Larry G Leck 2018
Larry Guerdon Leck

Larry Guerdon Leck, age 82, of Kermit, Texas, was born January 4, 1936 in Abilene, Texas to Robert Bradford Leck and Jo Ruth (Busby) Leck. He died June 25, 2018 in Kermit

Larry grew up in Wink, Texas with his sister, Sara Lynn. He graduated from Wink High School in 1954, and was a member of the 1952 Wink State Championship football team. He attended Abilene Christian College and Texas Tech University, and then returned to Wink to work in his father’s welding business. Larry was employed in pipeline and plant construction for 60 years. He married his wife, Bonnie, on May 14, 1977, and they spent 41 happy years together. He loved to fish, hunt and search for Indian arrowheads, but he was a cowboy at heart.

He is survived by his wife: Bonnie of Kermit, TX; daughters: Lita Hayes and husband Chris and Lori Covington and husband Benjamin; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren: and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Robert Bradford and Jo Ruth Leck and his sister: Sara Lynn Robbins.

The family will receive guests from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Family Services Funeral Parlor. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Wink Church of Christ with Terry Hill Officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Gary Gray, Randy Gray, Donnie Gray, Jerry Graves, Don Simpson, Perry Fikes, and Joe Fikes.

A special thank you is given to the caring staff at Winkler County Memorial Hospital.

As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity or church of your choice.

Kenneth James 2018

Kenneth William “Wild Bill” James

Kenneth W. James, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, surrounded by his family in Jal, NM. He was born on July 10, 1946 in Alamogordo, NM to Claude and Loice (Hairell) James. Kenneth married Cherry Harris on July 18, 1969 and they celebrated 48 wonderful years together.

Kenneth known as “Wild Bill” by his friends and family was a hard working man. He had a passion for collecting classic cars. He was a very happy man and always lived his life to the fullest. Bill loved being around people, watching T.V., and was the king of pranks. He was a strong man who loved his family very, very much. Bill was loved by many and will be missed dearly. 

He is survived by his wife: Cherry James of Jal, NM; son: Kendall James and wife Tracy of Jal, NM; daughter: Holly Denny of Odessa, TX; five grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Kaylee, Zachary, Shea, and Andi; and five great-grandchildren: Christian, Kaitlynn, James, Matthew, and Ava (Tater).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Loice James; brothers: Frank James; Jesse James; and Gene James; and son-in-law: Pat Denny.

A Graveside service will be celebrated at 10:00 am MST, Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Jal Cemetery, with Brother Allen Speed officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Zachary Denny, Larry Crites, Gary Watkins, Gene Armstrong, Harry Reeves, and Doug Ford.

Betty Ruth Taylor 2018
Betty Ruth Taylor

Betty Ruth Taylor, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Crane, TX.  She was born April 4, 1941 in Lamar Co., TX to J.W. and Ruth Mae (Freeman) Neeley. She married Jerry Lee Taylor and they celebrated 56 wonderful years together, until his passing in 2013.

Betty's greatest treasure was her family.  She loved them will all of her heart and they returned her love back. Her family affectionately called her "Granny" and she will be greatly missed by them. Some of Betty's hobbies include bowling, gambling and playing softball, cards, and dominoes.

She is survived by her son: William Lee Taylor of Kermit, TX; daughters: Lisa Moczygemba and husband Randy of San Antonio, TX and Jana Sue Winters and husband J.B. of Kermit, TX; brother:  Donald Gene Neeley and wife Suzanne of Sherman, TX; sisters:  Don Goodnight of Dallas, TX; Patti Roy and husband Richard of Tuscarora, NY, Carolyn Brewer and husband Kenny of Dallas, TX, and Jovetta Mock and husband ED of Enis, TX; grandchildren:  Camille Selby and husband Jason, Amanda Davis and husband Chris. Michelle Fields and husband Ryan, Michael Rushing and wife Shannon, Caleb Rushing and wife Tylyn, BreeAnn Gallardo and husband Javier, Tyla Sanchez and Jessica Gutierrez; great-grandchildren:  Landon, Andrew, Jeremy, Joshua, Bryce, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Kimber, Chase, Kailynn, Zane and Paisley.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Jerry Lee Taylor and parents:  J.W. and Ruth Taylor.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Betty’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Association  of your choice.

OL Jack Marshall 2018

O.L. "Jack" Marshall,

O.L. "Jack" Marshall, 74 of Kermit, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Medical Center hospital in Odessa.  He was born September 10, 1943 in Crane, TX to L.L "Turk" and Rose (Brown) Marshall.  He married Clara Henson in Kermit, TX on October 24 1980 and they celebrated 37 years together.

"Jack", as he was known to all of his friends and family, was a hard working man who was devoted to his family.  He had a love for the outdoors especially if he could be golfing or working on his farm.  He established M & M Trucking October 1973 in Kermit with his father "Turk".  Jack also served as mayor of Kermit from April 1, 1984 to May 9, 1989 and taught auto mechanics for KISD for many years.

Jack is survived by his wife:  Clara Marshall of Kermit, TX; sons: Lonny Marshall and wife Melinda of Kermit, TX, Tim Kinnear and wife Judy of Royse City, TX, and Kevin Kinnear and wife Grace of Arlington, TX; daughters:  Carolyn Gulow of Duncan, OK, and Deborah McLaughlin and husband Gilbert of Grand Cayman; sisters:  Mary Mason of Andrews, TX and Rosie Lee Henry of Wimberley, TX; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents:  L.L. "Turk" and Rose Marshall.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Community Church in Kermit with Brother Ed Simmons officiating.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include:  Bradley Castleman, Chris Marshall, Matt Kinnear, Josh Kinnear, Tony Under  wood and Jeff Lajoie.  Honorary Pallbearers will include:  Robert Roberts, A.L. Ward, Sammy Cates, Odis Marshall, Randy Neal, and John Bell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jack's name may be made to the Community Church in Kermit 302 South Poplar, Kermit, TX  79745; or the charity of your choice.

Patricia Armstrong 2018

Patricia Ann Armstrong

Patricia Ann Armstrong, age 72, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 in Odessa, TX.  She was born July 5, 1946 in Kermit, TX. to Herman and Maurine (Justus) Nix. She married Freddie Armstrong on May 16, 1969 and they celebrated 49 wonderful years together.

Patricia (known as “Pat” by all of her friends and family) was a member of the 1st Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and caring wife, who was always focused on her home and raising her family.  She loved to go shopping and watch movies with her dear friend Rose Byrum. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly.  

She is survived by her husband: Freddie Armstrong of Kermit, TX; sons: Shannon Armstrong of Trent, TX and Kevin Armstrong of Kermit, TX; sister: Francine Cambell and husband Harry of Lubbock, TX; and three grandchildren: Trent, Samuel, and Ian.      

She is preceded in death by her parents: Herman and Maurine Nix.

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Kermit Cemetery with Brother John Mailey officiating.
