Clarice Boles
Clarice Maureen Helms Boles

Clarice Maureen Helms Boles, age 95, a resident of Kermit, TX since 1952, died on Friday, October 27, 2017, in Deerings Nursing Home in Odessa.  Clarice was born, June 21, 1922, in Blue Springs, Covington County, Alabama, to James Robert Helms and Audra Avinal Horne.  The Bob Helms family moved to Niceville, Florida, in 1922 with his parents, John William and Louisianna Lossie Patrick Helms.

Clarice was deeply committed to her family and will be remembered for her loving spirit and infectious laughter. 

Clarice is survived by her two daughters:  Carolyn Boles of Odessa, TX and Phyllis Reid and husband Arnold of Longview, TX; three brothers:  Joel Astor "Jack" Helms of  Niceville, FL, Morris C. Helms and wife Janet of  Fairhope, AL, and Charles Patrick "Pat" Helms of Niceville, FL; one granddaughter:  Kay Griffin Glover and husband Randy; six grandsons:  Drew Parsons and wife Maria, Shawn Parsons, Randy Scott and wife Stacie, Brett Scott and wife Mia, Tory Scott and wife Jenny, and Stephen Reid and wife Michelle; and numerous great-grandchildren. 

Clarice is preceded in death by her husband, Philip Benton Boles; grandson: Bryan Reid and wife Lisa; brother: William Robert "Willie" Helms and wife Willine; three sisters:  Mertie Carter and husband Zed, Ruby Brown and husband Jesse, and Doris Reddick and husband Leslie; and four sister-in-laws: Gladys Helms, Helen Helms, Carrol Helms, and Jean Helms.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Kermit Cemetery with Roy Christopher officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Drew Parsons, Shawn Parsons, and Tory Scott.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Anita Reyes

Anita R. Reyes

Anita R. Reyes, age 70, a resident of Kermit, TX died on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Midland Memorial Hospital.  Anita was born, July 26, 1947, in El Porvenir, Mexico, to Vicente and Rosa (Contreras) Rojas. 

Anita was deeply committed to her family and always wanted to see her grandkids.  She will be remembered for her loving spirit and her door was always open for her friends to stop by.    Anita loved to sew and knit.  She was always redecorating her house.  Her family was especially fond of her chili rellenos.  She was full of life and known to the family as "Madre".

Anita is survived by her son:  Carlos Estrada and wife Belen of Kermit, TX; six brothers:  Raul Rojas and wife Martha of Jal, NM, Vicente Rojas and wife Maria of Las Cruces, NM, Philippe Rojas and wife Olivia of Amarillo, TX, Luis Rojas of Kansas, Victor Rojas of El Porvenir, MX, and Jesus Rojas of Ft. Hancock, TX; three sisters:  Augustina Macias and husband Norberto of Ft. Hancock, TX, Antonia Sintron of El Paso, TX, Mague Gonzalez of Los Angeles, CA;  two grandchildren: Nancy, Carlitos, Aerianna, Nitro and Gavriella; and great-grandchildren:  Diego, Noah.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Esequiel Reyes and her parents Vicente and Rosa Rojas.

A Rosary will be 7:00 pm, Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 10, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Parlor with Jose de la Cruz Modesto officiating.   Pallbearers will include: Gary Reyes, Miguel Reyes, Raul Rojas, Carlos Estrada, Vicente Rojas, Luis Rojas.   Honorary pallbearers will include:  Carlitos Estrada, Diego Romero, and Noah Barrientos.

Hope Fullbright
Hope Laverne Fulbright

Hope Laverne Fulbright, age 91, a resident of Kermit, TX died on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.  Hope was born, November 17, 1925, in Fannin County, TX, to Bogus and Elizabeth (Curry) Whiteside. 

Hope was a longtime member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church who loved her church.  She enjoyed playing the piano and singing.  Often she could be found working in her yard.  Her excellent cooking will be missed by her family, especially her BBQ.   She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

Hope is survived by her son:  Daryle Fulbright and wife Cathy of Red Oak, TX; daughter:  LaRon Fulbright of Kermit, TX;  and six grandchildren:  Andy, Derek, Jeremy, Ian, Caitlyn, and Megan.

She was preceded in death by her husband:  Harmon Fulbright, parents:  Bogus and Elizabeth Whiteside, son:  David Fulbright, and  nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. I.D. Tunson Jr. officiating.   Burial will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Ian Fulbright, Derek Fulbright, Denel McIntire, Timothy Gonzales, Thomas Gonzales IV, Velma Gonzales.   Honorary pallbearers will include:  Bonny Gains, Haskell Whiteside, W.C. Whiteside, George Whiteside, Elbert Whiteside, L.B. Whiteside, Malcolm Whiteside, and Bonzale Whiteside.

Robert Scogin 2017

Robert "Bob" Roland Scogin

Robert "Bob" Roland Scogin, age 85, of Kermit, TX, passed from this life on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Midland, Texas. He was born in Jacksonville, TX on January 11,1932 to J.A. "Marble" and Janice (Travis) Scogin. Robert married Betty Mills on November 27, 1959 and they spent 57 wonderful years together.

Robert, known as "Bob" by his friends and family, was a hard working man. He loved to golf and play games.  He was a lover of the arts and was a member of the founders Club at the Spencer's Theater in Alto, NM where he attended many plays, symphony and opera performances.  Bob was a well educated man.  He obtained a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech and a PhD in Jurisprudence from University of Texas Law School.  The many accolades Bob achieved in his lifetime include, lifetime founding membership in the Texas Tech Law School and of the Board of Trustees for Texas Tech.   Bob practiced law from 1958 until his death and was a 59 year member of the Texas State Bar Association.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Bob was a very social man and he will be missed by his many of friends.

He is survived by his wife:  Betty Scogin of Kermit, TX; daughter:  Susan Scogin Gallagher of Midland, TX; son-in-law:  Brent Gallagher of Midland, TX; grandson:  Michael "Little Bob" Robert Gallagher; and two nieces and one nephew.

He is preceded in death by his parents:  J.A. "Marble" and Janice Scogin and his brother:  John Travis Scogin.

The family will receive guests from 6-8 pm, Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Parlor.  Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, November  17, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Kermit with Rev.  Beth Harrington officiating. Burial will follow at the Kermit Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, The American Heart Association, or the charity of your choice.

Audelio R Gardea

Audelio Rivera Gardea

Audelio Gardea, age 97, of Kermit, TX, passed away in Andrews, TX on Thursday, November 16, 2017.  He was born June 12, 1920 in Ojinaga, Mexico to Isidoro and Isabel (Rivera) Gardea. Audelio married Concepcion (Valenzuela) Gardea on August 31, 1970 and they celebrated 77 wonderful years together.

Audelio was a member of the Catholic Church and loved the Lord. He enjoyed horseback riding and deer hunting. Audelio loved the ranch life and enjoyed herding cattle. He was a family man whose family always came first in his life. He also loved to dance. Audelio was very loved and will be missed dearly.  

He is survived by his wife: Concepcion Gardea of Kermit, TX; son: Ermin Gardea and wife Marisela of Monahans, TX; three daughters: Olivia Ramirez and husband Ruben of Kermit, Maria "Chayo"  Gardea of Kermit, TX and Delma Gardea of Kermit; brother: Lolo Gardea and wife Genoveva of Kermit, TX; eighteen grandchildren; forty-nine great-grandchildren; and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son: Trinidad Gardea; two daughters: Gabina Gardea and Maria Gardea; parents: Isidoro and Isabel Gardea; and four siblings.

A Rosary will be held starting at 7:00 pm, Monday, November 20, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, TX, with Father Luis Rene Lopez officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Trinidad Gardea, Ermin Gardea, Marc Ramirez, Nathaniel Ramirez, Iver Ramirez, and Ramon Gardea. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ruben Ramirez Jr., Agmed Ramirez, Xavier Ramirez, Lael Ramirez, Raul Gardea, and Amador Figueroa.

Clarence Pickering
Clarence Albert Pickering Jr.

Clarence Pickering, age 58, of Monahans, TX, passed from this life on Friday, November 17, 2017 in Monahans. He was born in Odessa, TX on February 6, 1959 to Clarence and Wanda (Curbo) Pickering. At the tender age of 17 months, Clarence lost both parents but then instantly became the youngest child of his dear and loving parents George and Bonnie (Curbo) Campbell. Clarence married Patsy (Shirley)  Pickering on September 17, 1982 in Monahans, and they celebrated 35 wonderful years together. 

Clarence was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monahans. He was a very active member of the Monahans community, sponsoring and coaching the Little League teams, helping with Meals on Wheels and was a handy man and a jack of all trades for anyone who needed his help. Clarence loved to fish and to hunt and to teach any child who wanted to learn how to shoot and how to fish. He was a jokester and loved to make everyone around him laugh. Clarence never met a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off his back or his last dime. He was a family man and loved his grandchildren dearly. Clarence was very loved and will be missed by many. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Steve and Kayla Murphee, Billy and Debbie Riley, Lillie and Melvin Craft, and Stacy Pickering, for all of the help and support they provided throughout Clarence's illness. 

He is survived by his wife: Patsy Pickering of Monahans; son: Chase Hunter Pickering and wife Hanna of Monahans; daughter: Tristan McKenzie Pickering of Belton, TX; brother: Bill Campbell of Rush, OK; two sisters: Claudie Kasparek and husband Rick of Midland, TX and Latonia Horton and husband Dennis of Leesburg, TX; seven grandchildren: Hailynn Pickering, Brycen Dansby, Jamie Valle, Delilah Rose Pickering, Shawn Dansby, Dashun Dansby and Isabella Loya; and numerous nieces and nephews which he loved like siblings and took great pride in.  

He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Bonnie Campbell; two brothers: Jeff Ethridge and Tony McCrohan; and sister: Kay Haynes. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints with President Billy Riley officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Steve Murphree, Melvin Craft, Abran Carrillo, Zeke Nunez, and Steve Huckabee.

Maurilio Olivas

Maurilio Urquidi Olivas    

Maurilio Olivas, age 57, of Kermit, TX, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, November 20, 2017.  He was born September 13, 1960 in El Mulato, Mexico to Alvaro and Gregoria (Urquidi) Olivas.

Maurilio was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed horseback riding and being outside. Maurilio was a hard working man.  Often, he could be found driving a truck, working on a truck, or running his trucking company.  He loved to travel and greatly enjoyed spending time with "his girls".  Maurilio was a generous man and he loved to travel to Mexico. Maurilio was very loved and will be missed dearly.  

He is survived by his wife: Deborah Ramirez of Kermit; mother:  Gregoria Olivas of Kermit; son: Maurilio Olivas Jr. and wife Yadira of Kermit; daughters:  Tatiana Olivas and Daniela "Moso" Olivas, both of Kermit; brothers: Ranulfo Olivas and wife Abilia of Kermit and Roque Olivas of Kermit; sisters:  Maria Elena Campos and husband Jose of Kermit, Ana Isabel Hernandez and husband Arnulfo of Eastland, TX, and Beronica Olivas of Kermit; four grandchildren:  Lalito, Alex, Bella, and Davian.

He is preceded in death by his father:  Alvaro Olivas; brothers:  Alvaro Olivas Jr. and Norberto Olivas; daughter: Jennifer Sanchez; and granddaughter:  Darianna Olivas.

A Rosary will be held starting at 7:00 pm, Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 27, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, TX, with Father Luis Rene Lopez officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Daniel Olivas, Roy Olivas, Eduardo Tarin, Alejandro Tarin, Eyuren Hernandez, and Erik Urquidi. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Tony Garcia, Randen Bradford, Roy Bell, Daniel Esquivel, and Polo Urias.

Jennifer Kiser
Jennifer Kay Kiser

Jennifer Kay Kiser, age 40, of Kermit, TX, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 in Odessa, TX. She was born December 20, 1976 in Kermit, TX to Malcolm Kingston and Brenda (Smith) Perez.

Jennifer was first and foremost a mom.  She spent most of her time taking care of her children and supporting them in all of their endeavors in school.  She loved to watch her kids play sports.  Jennifer had the biggest heart and was loved by many people.  She was a life-long Kermit resident and graduated from Kermit High School in 1995.  Jennifer married Joe Kiser Jr. in Kermit on March 15, 1997 and they celebrated 20 years together.

She is survived by her husband:  Joe Kiser Jr.  of Kermit, TX; three sons: Andrew Kiser of Kermit, Nathan Kiser of Odessa, and Cedric Kiser of Kermit; daughter:  Brittany Kiser of Kermit; father:  Malcolm Kingston and Diana Campbell of Kermit; mother: Brenda Perez of Kermit; brother:  Mark Kingston and wife Missy of Dumas, TX; sisters:  Rebecca Alvarado and husband Steve of Brownwood, TX, and Amy Brooks and Eric Hensley of Kermit, TX.

She is preceded in death by her step-father:  Weaver Perez and her grandparents.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX, with Pastor Eddie Whitefield officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be: Eddie Moreno, Chris Wright, Rey Valenzuela, Joey Zipfel, Arnulfo Leyva and Curtis Collum.

Marivel Vargas

Marivel Gonzalez Vargas

Marivel G. Vargas, age 50, of Kermit, TX, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.  She was born June 21, 1967 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Jesus Manuel and Manuela (Muniz) Gonzalez.  Marivel married Gregorio Vargas on December 27, 1986 in Gilroy, CA and they celebrated 30 years together before her death.

Marivel was a member of the Catholic Church. She greatly enjoyed serving the Lord and often could be found singing in the church choir or leading rosaries.  Marivel loved cooking enchiladas for her family and spending time with her kids.  She enjoyed working puzzles, singing, dancing, playing games on the computer, and traveling.

She is survived by her husband: Gregorio Vargas of Kermit;  son: Alejandro Vargas and wife Mayra of Midland, TX; and daughters:  Monica Vargas and Liliana Taithe Vargas, both of Kermit.

She is preceded in death by her son:  Braulio Vargas; parents Jesus and Manuela Vargas, and brothers:  Guillermo and Pablo.

A Rosary will be held starting at 7:00 pm, Wednesday,  November 29, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 30, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, with Father Luis Rene Lopez officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Alejandro Vargas, Jose Alberto Galindo, Rogelio Lomeli, and Guillermo Marquez, Pete Muniz Jr., and Humberto Armendariz Jr.
