Phyllis Shropshire
Phyllis Shropshire

Phyllis Shropshire, age 64, of Kermit, TX., passed from this life on Monday, January 9, 2017 in Midland, surrounded by her family.  She was born in Kermit, TX on November 20, 1952 to Samuel and Elsie "Odessa"  (Elmore) Boner. Phyllis married John Shropshire on July 6, 1969 in Mexico, and they celebrated 47 wonderful years together. 

Phyllis, known to her family as “Aunt June” was a collector of dolphin sculptures. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan, and loved to go shopping. Phyllis enjoyed playing video games. Her children said she played her Atari so much the E.T. on her game turned from brown to black. She loved to go to the casino and gamble. Phyllis adored her grandchildren, and she will be missed by all who loved her.     

She is survived by her husband: John Shropshire of Kermit, TX; two sons: John Shropshire Jr. of Kermit, TX; and Michael Shropshire and wife Kathy of Kermit, TX; daughter: Shawna Lara and husband Joe of Kermit, TX; one sister-in-law: Joann Mitchell of Jal, NM; six grandchildren: Amanda, Adam, Jessica, J.T., Kody and wife Amanda, and Heather; and eight great-grandchildren: Tori, Jaycee, McKenna, Alex, Natalie, Noey, Jackson, and Aria.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Samuel and Elsie Boner; five brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel with Glenda Mixon officiating.  Pallbearers will include: Joe Lara, Kody Shropshire, Donnie Boner, Ken McGuff, Greg Tedford, and Johnny Phillips. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Adam Lara and J.T. Shropshire. Burial will follow at the Kermit Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Jay Olander Wren
Jay Olander Wren

Jay Olander Wren, age 46, of Kermit, TX., passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Kermit, TX. He was born August 8, 1970 in Kermit, TX to C. M. and Gloria Jean (Edmiston) Wren.

Jay enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a talented man who could draw and enjoyed listening to Rock and Roll as well as play it on his guitar. He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles and dirt bikes. He was a fan of the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved playing with his kids and grandkid and hanging out with friends and family members, especially during BBQs.

He is survived by his former wife: Shae Wren of Kermit, TX; one son: Dustin Wren and wife Alina Orona of Kermit, TX; one daughter: JayCie Wren of Kermit, TX; two brothers: Brian Wren of Carlsbad, NM and Chucky Christie of Houston, TX; two sisters: Lisa Ewald of Carlsbad, NM and Ronna Willis and husband Victor of Channelview, TX; one grandchild: Jazon Wren.

He is preceded in death by his parents:  C.M. Sr. and Gloria Wren; and one brother: C.M. Wren Jr .

Memorial Services for Jay will be held privately at a later date.

Jesse David Allan Ables

Jesse David Allan Ables, age 32, of Kermit, TX, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Kermit, TX. He was born September 10, 1984 in Riverside, CA. to Joseph Martin and Patricia Ann (Blankenship) Foster. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Jesse was a good hearted person with a very kind heart and considerate. He was always available to help others. He could always put a big smile on anyone’s face and could make them laugh. He loved having a good time. He enjoyed playing video games, listening to rock music, cooking and eating.

He is survived by his daughter: Timber Pirtle of Kermit, TX; two brothers: James “Pat” Griffin and Misty of Kermit, TX and Joey Ables and wife Brandy of Tool, TX; two sisters: Bobbie Kuhr of Kermit, TX and Natasha Ables of Riverside, Cal his parents: Joseph and wife Rose Smith of Kermit, TX; grandfather: Jessie B. Foster of Odessa, TX; step-father: Billy Ferguson of Kermit, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother: Patricia Ann Foster.

A memorial service will be held on a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Jesse’s name to the Eastside Church of Christ food pantry at PO Box 845 Kermit, TX 79745.

Mary Nell Haley
Mary Nell Haley

Mary Nell Haley, age 51, of Loving County, TX, passed from this life on Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Loving County. She was born in Midland, TX on December 3, 1965 to John and Stefanie (Fay) Haley.  

Mary Nell will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.  She was a great friend and wonderful sister, and an untiring supporter of her community.   Mary Nell was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #6284, American Legion #339, Texas State Rifle Association, and the NRA. She was a huge Green Bay and Pittsburg Steelers fan and a diehard supporter of the Wink Wildcats.  She was a member of the local Chamber of Commerce, the Chairman of the Republican Party in Loving County, and a steadfast supporter of the local fire departments, the local 4-H club, and the Relay for Life. Mary Nell was "everyone’s angel" and will be missed by all who loved her.  

She is survived by her step-son: Marcus Thomas of Kermit, TX; step-daughter: Robyn Wood and Robyn's husband Shay of Midland, TX, and their son Blayze (and one child on the way); three brothers: Alan Haley and wife Barbara of Loving County; Mark Haley of Loving County; and John Haley and wife Amy of Rock Hill, SC; one sister: Michele Haley-Desilets of Odessa, TX; many cousins , nieces, and nephews, and an army of great friends.  We will all miss her very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond Don Thomas Jr. and parents: John and Stefanie Haley.

A Celebration of Mary Nell's Life will be held at the ranch on Saturday, February 4,2016 at  2:00 pm.

Elaine “Lainy” Owens Grubbs

Elaine “Lainy” Owens Grubbs, age 51, of Wink, TX, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 in Odessa, TX. She was born February 19, 1965 in Kermit, TX to Ujean and Edna (Hack) Owens.

Elaine’s friends and family called her “Lainy."  She was a loving housewife that enjoyed collecting unique glassware and shot glasses and fishing.  Lainy was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan.  She loved her customers at Kent Kwik, never met a stranger and went out of her way to help others.  Lainy had a vivacious personality and was very outspoken.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and was very fond of her dogs.

She is survived by her husband: Steaven Grubbs of Wink, TX; one son: Steaven Joseph Grubbs and wife Megan of Wink, TX; two sisters: Oconee Norman and husband Dewayne of Palestine, TX and Lori Culver and husband Rob of Mesa, AZ; and four grandchildren:  Joseph, Madison, Trenton, and Nathan "Nog".

She is preceded in death by her parents Ujean and Edna (Hack) Owens.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 20, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX, with Steaven Grubbs officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jamey Grubbs, Michael Grubbs,  J.J. Stay, and Tommy Gallander.

Robert K Tuck

Robert Keith Tuck

Robert Keith Tuck, age 57, of Kermit, TX., passed away on his mother's birthday, Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in Odessa, TX. He was born November 29, 1959 in Big Spring, TX. to Hugh and Goldie (Dawes) Tuck. On September 24, 2016 he married Connie Tuck after being together over 27 years.

Robert was called "Bobby" by all who knew him. He was a hard worker and loved to listen to music. He was always the life of the party, he loved to flirt with all the girls and was a best friend to everyone he ever met. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys Fan. Bobby was a great father, a wonderful provider for his family and a fantastic husband. 

He is survived by his wife: Connie Tuck of Kermit, TX; two sons: Joshua Grinstead and wife Krissy of Andrews, TX; and Keith Tuck of Kermit, TX; daughter: Brittany Tuck of Kermit, TX; four sisters: Susan Hawkins and husband Dewight of Odessa, TX, Stacy John and husband Chris of Goldsmith, TX, Lynn Carver and husband Joe of Odessa, TX, and Kathy Paz and husband Sammy of Odessa, TX; and grandchildren: Mikilia Henson and one little boy on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents:  Hugh and Goldie Tuck; brother: Tony Tuck; two sisters: Mary Hudspeth and Nancy Wood; and a best friend like a brother: Darryl Reed.

A memorial service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Kermit with Brother Dudley Mullins officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will include Kaleb Huddleston and Rene Reed.

Sheryl Lynn Fulfer

Sheryl Lynn Fulfer, age 66, of Jal, NM, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Odessa, TX.  She was born July 26, 1950 in Dalhart,TX to Lee and J. Ruth (Jenkins) Bohrer.  Sheryl married Perry Fulfer in Dumas, TX on December 16, 1999 and they celebrated 17 years together.

Sheryl was a loving mother and grandmother.  She adored being around her grandkids and was affectionately called "Grammy" by them.  Sheryl was full of life and had a great spirit of adventure.  She loved camping, cooking and photography.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jal.

She is survived by her husband: Perry Fulfer of Jal, NM; daughter:  Michele Spielman and husband Gary of Dalhart, TX; two step-sons:  Rowdy Fulfer and wife Bridgot of Jal, NM and Cory Fulfer and wife Wendy of Jal, NM; four brothers:  Jim Bohrer of Houston, TX, Dennis Bohrer and wife Helen of Amarillo, TX, John Bohrer and wife Sherry and their son Britt of Amarillo, TX, and Richard Bohrer and wife Nancy of Clear Lake Shores, TX; seven grandchildren:  Shelby, Luke, Cameron, Chelsea, KC, Kimberlee, and Kolby.

She is preceded in death by her parents:  Lee and J. Ruth Bohrer; and two brothers:  Darwin Bohrer and Dallas Bohrer.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Elizabeth T Miracle
Elizabeth Turney Horner Miracle

Elizabeth Turney Horner Miracle passed away January 22, 2017 at Parkplace Retirement Center.  Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Kermit, Texas with Rev. Jean Riley, officiating.  Burial will follow in Kermit Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the supervision Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Elizabeth was born July 3, 1930 to Margaret Tutwiler Turney and Joseph Turney in Mesilla, New Mexico.  She married Richard Horner in 1950 and he passed away in 1982.  She married Fred Miracle in 1986 and he also preceded her in death in 1998.  Mrs. Miracle lived in Kermit from 1951 until 2012 at which time she moved to Big Spring.

Mrs. Miracle was a noted pianist and organist with a career as a church organist spanning 67 years.   Fifty of those years were at the First United Methodist Church in Kermit.  She also directed the hand bell choirs there as well.

She had a private piano and organ studio from 1957-1986, and taught over 800 students from 5-year-olds to grandparents during that time.  She also accompanied the junior high and high school choirs as well as a number of choir and band soloists and ensembles at numerous contests and festivals.

Mrs. Miracle had been a member of the Odessa Music Teachers Association, the National Federation of Music Clubs and the National Guild of Organists.  She judged extensively at piano contests and festivals throughout Texas and New Mexico, including the Kermit Keyboard Contest which she organized. She was awarded the Outstanding Judge’s Certificate by the Texas State Music Teachers Association.  She had been a delegate to the Texas Music Teachers and the National Music Teachers meetings.

Mrs. Miracle graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music. She began her career from 1989-1999 as the music teacher at East Primary School in Kermit. She was pleased to teach a number of children and grandchildren of former piano and organ students.

Elizabeth was active in the United Methodist Church, where she held many offices at the local, district, and conference levels of United Methodist Women.  She was a lay delegate to the New Mexico Methodist Annual Conference for six years. Mrs. Miracle was a founding member of the Women’s Division of the Kermit Chamber of Commerce and was selected as Woman of the Year in 2007.  She had been a member of the Ambassadors of the Chamber of Commerce and the Medallion Home Hostesses and had had memberships in Beta Sigma Phi and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Elizabeth is survived by one daughter, Linda Miracle and her husband Dan of Big Spring; her grandsons: Thad Miracle, Ryan Miracle, Chris Horner, Matthew Horner and Justin Horner; her step-grandsons: Ron Gray, Shannon Casey and Lance Casey and six great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, husbands, and three brothers, she was also preceded in death by a son Richard Linzy “Dickie” Horner.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 744 Jeffee Drive, Kermit, Texas 79745. 

Lynn
Lynn Stehley III

Lynn Stehley III, age 44, of Jal, NM, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX. He was born September 17, 1972 in Harrisburg, PA to Lynn Jr. and Mary (Palmer) Stehley.  He was a member of the Jal Church of Christ.

Lynn was a hard working man.  He always had a project and was quite the handyman.  Lynn was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys.  He enjoyed singing and fishing.  Lynn married his love Suean Gaskill on August 1, 2001 and the celebrated 15 wonderful years together.

He is survived by his wife:  Suean Stehley of Jal, NM; father:  Lynn Stehley Jr. of Arizona; mother:  Mary Barner of Pine Grove, PA; grandmother: Kathryn Palmer of Newport, PA; two sons:  Dorien Stehley of Pasadena, MD and Blake Finch of Jal, NM; step-son Nathan Hollinhead of Lake Jackson, TX; step-daughter:  Kimberly Hollinhead of Lake Jackson, TX; brothers:  Anthony Stehley and wife Kelly of Harrisburg, PA and Dave Barner of Harrisburg, PA; sisters:  Angel McNulty and husband John of Pine Grove, PA, and Tracy Beck of Tyrone, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his step-father:  David Barner, and uncle: Steve.     

A memorial service will be held on a later date.

Irma Aurora Sanchez de Navarro

Irma Aurora Sanchez de Navarro drifted off into a beautiful sleep to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 28, 2017 in her home in Jal, NM. Ms. Sanchez de Navarro was born on a beautiful spring day on April 27, 1944 to Guadalupe Rocha Contreras and Roberto Prado Sanchez in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. She was the eldest daughter of eight children. She received her certificate of cosmetology from El club de Madres “Amalia M. De Leon” in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua in 1964.  She married Jose Monje Navarro on February 25, 1966 in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico and she gave life to thirteen children. Her children were always in her thoughts and prayers.

She is remembered for her strong belief in God and dedication to His word. Her beauty, strength and love will always remain with her family. She is now rejoicing in God’s kingdom, and her family looks forward to reuniting with her in heaven.

She is preceded in death by her infant daughter Abigail whom she always remembered fondly, and is survived by her twelve children: Virginia, Elizabeth, Isaac, Jose Marcos, Gracie, Luis, Irma, Abraham, Claudia, Iris, Abigail, Sara and their respective spouses, as well as 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services have been entrusted with Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit, TX. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 and Wednesday, February 1, 2017 both days from 8 am-8 pm at Family Services Funeral Parlor, 911 East School St., Kermit Texas.  Flowers and notes of remembrance may be sent there.  A memorial service will be held in her honor on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 2 pm at the Jal First Assembly of God, 400 N. 3rd St., Jal, NM, and upon completion of memorial service she will be laid to rest at Jal Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to attend.

Concepcion F. Porras

Concepcion F. Porras, age 90, of Kermit, TX, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.  He was born December 8, 1926 in Malaga, NM to Jose and Blasa (Franco) Porras.  Concepcion married Simona Lara-Martinez on April 14, 1950 and they celebrated 49 years together before her death in 1999.

"Chon" as he was called by his friends and family, was a hard working man.  He loved being outdoors.  Often, Concepcion could be found fishing, gardening, or watching the birds.  "Chon" had a love of animals, especially his dogs and cat.  He was also a devoted family man, and delighted in spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son:  Leo Lara and wife Judy of Monahans, TX; daughters:  Elvira Porras of Fort Worth, TX, Savina Vejil and husband Manuel of Colorado Springs, CO, Lupe Rodriguez of Kermit, TX, Rose Brown and husband Scott of Monahans, TX, Marge Stephenson of Arlington, TX, Sylvia Fuller and husband Franklin of Greenwood, TX, Connie Garcia and husband Oscar of Kermit, TX,  Nancy Carrasco and husband Henry of Kermit, TX, and Rachel Garcia and husband Orlando of Monahans, TX, brothers:  Oscar Porras and wife Lola of Acme, WA, and Martin Porras  and wife Francisca of Kermit, TX; sisters:  Hortencia Porras of WA, and Manuela Rangel and husband Martin of WA.

He is preceded in death by his wife:  Simona Porras; parents:  Jose and Blasa Porras, two brothers and a sister.

A Rosary will be held starting at 7:00 pm, Friday, February 3, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, TX, with Father Mark Salas officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Roger Padron, Adan Vejil, Robert Rhoudes, Oscar Garcia, Leo Lara, David Carrasco, Dominic Garcia, and Alcario Padron. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Oscar Porras and Martin Porras.

Timmy Moore
Timmy Dale Moore

Timmy Dale Moore, age 55, of Kermit, TX, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in Kermit. He was born February 2, 1962 in Kermit to Ralph Moore and Claudette (Boiling) Moore. On June 1, 1984, Tim married the love of his life, Linda Moore, and they spent 32 wonderful years together.

Timmy, known by his friends and family as “Tim,” loved to collect guns and knives. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and camping. He loved to eat and also enjoyed watching TV.  His favorite shows could be found on the History Channel, as well as Westerns, and documentaries about Biblical Studies. Tim was a very hard worker and a stubborn man who loved to challenge his wife. He was also a very loving man who loved to spend time with his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife: Linda Moore of Kermit TX; mother: Claudette Moore of Kermit, TX; son: Ralph Edward Moore and wife April of Kermit, TX; daughter: Layla Nicole Moore of Dallas, TX; brother: Tony Wayne Moore and wife Peggy of Arlington, TX; and three grandchildren: Jordan Eaton, Darren Eaton, and Colton Edward Moore; nephew:  Kelby Moore and wife Amanda of Arlington, TX, and niece:  Brittny Warden and husband Michael of Kenndale, TX.

He is preceded in death by his father: Ralph Moore, and sister: Debra Diane Easley.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Community Church in Kermit, TX. with Brother Dudley Mullins and Ed Simmons officiating.  Pallbearers will include: Robert Heidecker, Ralph Moore, Homero Lujan, Casey Robinson, Juan Leyva, Todd Ethridge, Stephen Ditto and Kelby Moore.  Honorary Pallbearers will include: Jordan Eaton, Darren Eaton, Mike Moon, Harold Carter and John Dodson.

Rosanna Vallejo
Rossana Yanet Vallejo

Rossana Yanet Vallejo, age 37, of Kermit, TX, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 in Kermit.  She was born November 11, 1979 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, MX to Jose Luis and Guadalupe (Hernandez) Muniz.  Rossana married Christopher Vallejo in Waco, TX, on June 8, 2005 and they celebrated 11 years together.

"Rosey" as she was called by her family or "RoRo" as she was known to her coworkers was always happy.  She had the most beautiful smile.  Rossana was very motherly to her sisters and was always taking care of them.  She was a great dancer, and fantastic cook.  Rosey had a heart of gold and was always there when you needed her.  She enjoyed playing games,  Soduko and word searches were some of her favorites.  Rosey  was a loving sister, mother, daughter, aunt, and wife.  She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.

She is survived by her husband: Christopher Vallejo of Kermit, TX; son:  Angel  Muniz of Kermit, TX, parents:  Jose and Guadalupe Muniz of Kermit, TX, grandparents:  Francisco Muniz of Fredericksburg, TX, and Rosa Marrufo of Kermit, TX; brother:  Jose Luis Muniz Jr. of Kermit, TX, sisters:  Joanna Muniz and husband Jesus Cabrera of Kermit, TX, Diana Muniz of Kermit, TX and Liliana Muniz and husband Geovanni Valdez of Kermit, TX.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother: Agustina Muniz.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel with Pastor Noel Porras officiating.   Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include:  Ramon Muniz Jr., Francisco Muniz, Jose Payen, Steven Underwood, Jesus Cabrera, Geovanni Valdez, Auden Valenzuela, and Manuel Muniz.  Honorary Pallbearers will include:  Bruce Mendez, Jesus Contreras, and Aidyn Polanco.

Charles Mason
Charles William "Willie" Mason      

Charles William Mason, age 76, of Andrews, TX, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Andrews. He was born June 30, 1940 in Conway, AR to William and Reba (Maulden) Mason. On November 2, 1957, Charles married the love of his life, Mary Mason, and they spent 59 wonderful years together.

Charles, known to his friends and family as "Willie," was a very hard worker. He loved flying and all things aviation. Willie was a member of the Belvue Baptist Church, and was devoted to his grandchildren.    

He is survived by his wife: Mary Mason of Andrews, TX; four sons: Terry Mason and wife Christy of San Angelo, TX, Tommy Mason and wife Paula of Kermit, TX, Timothy J. Mason and wife Brentz of Andrews, TX, and Scott Gresham and wife Gloria of Katy, TX; brother: Grover Mason of Andrews, TX; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: William and Reba Mason; daughter: Debra Kay Mason; and sister: Dorothy Skinner.

Graveside Services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX. with Joe Strickling officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charles's name to the American Heart Association at https://donatenow.heart.org/ or by mail at  PO Box 841125 Dallas, TX 75284-1125. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.
