Paul Willhelm
Paul Willhelm

Paul Willhelm, age 75, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 in Kermit, TX. He was born in Ranger, TX on June 10, 1941, to Joe and Mittie (Mack) Willhelm. On January 21, 2012 he married Ann (Stormes) Vaughan and they spent four wonderful years together.

Paul was a hard working man and was in management at Lowe’s grocery store for over 40 years. He enjoyed gardening, and loved to cook and BBQ, his children would say “he had the best BBQ in Texas”. He loved to travel. He traveled all over the world and all over Texas. Paul particularly loved to go to Ruidoso. He was an inventor at heart and he would say he invented something but someone else patented it. Paul was a family man “the more the merrier” he would always say. Paul welcomed everyone into his home. There was always room for anyone at his table. Paul was a father to everyone. His children would say he would pick up any stray dog, cat, or kid.

He is survived by his wife: Ann Vaughan of Kemit, TX; three sons: Troy Willhelm and wife Tera of Mannsfield, TX, Gary Willhelm and wife Laura of Wicket, TX, and Billy Rumbaugh and wife Peggy of San Antonio, TX; four daughters: Debbie Willhelm of Ft. Worth, TX, Dianna Scott and husband Ricky of Monahans, TX, LaWanda Rumbaugh of Odessa, TX, and Rhonda Jones and husband Bobby of Odessa, TX; one sister: Louise Cash of Kermit, TX; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his wife of thirty-nine years: Judene Willhelm; daughter: Terri Kay Schmidt; parents: Joe and Mattie Willhelm; four brothers and one sister.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Family Services Funeral Chapel with Brother Dudley Mullins officiating. Honorary pallbearers will include: Gary Willhelm, Troy Willhelm, Ricky Scott, Shawn Scott, Randal Brown, John Paul Willhelm, and Kyle Hagood.

Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Cherrie Skaggs
Cherrie Jacqueline Skaggs

Cherrie Jacqueline Skaggs, age 86, of Jal, NM, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.  She was born on March 10, 1930 in Pine Bluff, AR to Thomas and Myrtis (James) Coleman. 

Cherrie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jal, NM.  She loved magnolias and visiting garage sales. She enjoyed country music, Hank Sr. was her favorite. Cherrie had a special place in her heart for her pet dogs. She was called “Jackie” by her family and “Granny” by her grandkids.

Cherrie is survived by her three sons: Ellis Gray and wife Joni of Pottsboro, TX; Jim Gray and wife Mary Jo of May, TX and Tim Gray and wife Tamra of Artesia, NM; one daughter: Tonya Tolle of DeLeon, TX; two brothers: Howard Coates and wife Brenda of Huntsville, TX and Raymond Coates and wife Alline of Spring, TX; one sister: Barbara Jean Bassano and husband Jim of Pittsburg, PA; seventeen grandchildren; thirty six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents:  Thomas Coleman and Myrtis Coates; one sister: Mildred; three brothers: Edward, Thomas, and William; and two great-grandchildren. 

Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX officiated by Pastor Mack Rogers. Pallbearers will be Baylor Gray, Trey Gray, Stacy Haynes, Buddy Hill, Jason Watson, and Bob Wood.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Howard Coates, Marc Gray, Clyde Chavious, Craig Moody, Levi Hill and Bill Waybourn.  Interment will follow at the Jal Cemetery in Jal, NM.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Cherrie's name may be made to American Cancer Society, 6355 Riverside Ave., Riverside, CA 92506.

Rudy B Sanchez

Rudy Briones Sanchez

Rudy Sanchez, age 48, of San Antonio, TX, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 in San Antonio. He was born May 12, 1968 in Kermit, TX to Julian Jr. and Delma (Briones) Sanchez. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

Rudy loved music and dancing. He enjoyed reading and loved watching movies. His family would say he knew everything about any movie. Rudy loved being around his friends and loved fashion. He was a big hearted person and always did for others before doing for himself. Rudy was a family man and loved his niece very much. He was a 1986 graduate of Kermit High School, after graduating he attended Cisco Junior College on a band scholarship and graduated with his associates in 1988. Upon graduation from Cisco, Rudy received an academic scholarship and attended Texas A&M.  

He is survived by his parents: Julian Jr. and Delma Sanchez of Kermit, TX.; sister: Naomi Sanchez of Phoenix, AZ.; niece: Savanah Tapia of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Julian Sr. and Viola Sanchez, and maternal grandparents: Cosme and Josefa Briones.

A Rosary will be held starting at 7:00 pm, Friday, January 6, 2017 at Family Services Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, TX, with Father Mark Salas officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Benny Sanchez, Art Briones, Sammy Briones, Eric Ortiz, Fabian Carillo, Andy Carillo, and Tony Carillo. Honorary Pallbearers will be his uncles and cousins.
