Carthal Fason 
Carthal "Arkie" T. Fason
Carthal T. Fason, age 80, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 in Heber Springs, AR. He was born in Mount Vernon, AR on Thursday, January 3, 1936, to William J and Mildred (Webb) Fason. Carthal married Wanda (England) Fason in 1957 and they celebrated 48 years together before her death in 2005.

Carthal loved his family dearly and was known to many as “Arkie”. Arkie lived for more than 50 years in Kermit, only moving due to poor health. Arkie was a hard working man who enjoyed being outside. He loved fishing, barbequing, and gardening.

He is survived by his son: Carthal "Junior" T. Fason and wife Patricia of Odessa, TX; two daughters: Carla Ward and husband Michael of Heber Springs, AR. and Melinda Hunt of Greers Ferry, AR.; three sisters: Myrtle Higgins of Blytheville, AR., Shirley Russell and husband Jimmy of Blytheville, AR. and Reva Hardesty of Pace, FL.; fifteen grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his loving wife: Wanda Lee Fason, two sons: Tommy Fason and Carl “Bubba” William Fason Jr. and his parents.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Family Service Funeral Chapel with Terrel Culp officiating. Pallbearers will be: Matthew Pando, Dakota Fason, Carl William Fason Jr., Gabriel Valerio, Denny Way and Bruce Evans. Honorary Pallbearer will be: Herman Steen. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.

Kenneth Wayne Prather
Kenneth Wayne Prather, age 80, passed from this life on Friday, January 15, 2016. He was born in Roaring Springs, TX on August 10, 1935, to Ancil Bradford and Minnie Alice (Blankenship) Prather.

Kenneth proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed with Harbison Fischer for 29 plus years. He was a Dallas Cowboy fan who also enjoyed watching wrestling and fishing. Kenneth had a special place in his heart for his dog “Pepper”. Those who have had the pleasure of coming into contact with Kenneth knew he was a fun loving people person. May each one of us cherish the loving memories of him that we hold dear.

He is survived by his beloved wife: Beverly (Scott) Prather of 52 years of Kermit, TX; three sons: Kevin Prather of Midland, TX, Scott Prather and wife Kerry of Odessa, TX and Donnie Bradford and wife Oleta of Chickasha, OK; one daughter: Kendra Prather of Kermit, TX; nine grandchildren: Cody Prather, David Prather, Weldon Prather, Ashton Prather, Blake Prather Blackwell, Angelo Bradford, Ivan Bradford, Joe Don Bradford, Jennifer Bradford and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Gene, Brad and Louis; two sisters: Agnes and Norma; and his parents.

Funeral Services will be 2 pm, Monday, January 18, 2016 at Family Services Funeral Chapel with Glenda Mixon officiating. Kenneth's wishes were to be cremated.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

John Lucido
Father John Lucido
Father John Lucido, age73, of Kermit, TX, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 in Kermit, TX. He was born September 23, 1942 in Savannah, GA to Joseph L. and Raney Ines (Hilliard) Lucido.

Father John as he was called by many who knew him served as the parish priest at St. John Catholic Church in Monahans, TX for about 22 years. Father John graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1964 with a degree in Romance Languages and Latin. He also served in the US Army for a period of time before he found his calling with the Church. Although Father John enjoyed traveling and reading books, and caring for animals, his true love was God and the Church. He took great delight in sharing his faith with others and demonstrating his love with a servant's heart.

He is survived by his nieces: Mary Clare Bland of Madrid, Spain and Catherine Wolfers and husband Kenton of Corte Madera, CA; his nephew: Michael Bland Jr. of Denver, Co; and grand-nieces: Ruby and Raney Wolfers.
Father John was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Ines Lucido; and his sister: Donna Bland.

Viewing will begin at 5:00 pm, Monday, January 25 at St. Johns Catholic Church. A Vigil will be held starting at 7:00 pm, Monday, January 25 , 2016, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Monahans. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Monahans, TX, with Bishop Mark Seitz officiating. A cremation will follow. There will be a memorial mass held at a later date.

Martha J. Nugent

Martha passed peacefully December 26, 2015 at her home in Willis, Texas. She was born November 26, 1931 to James and Jenny Savage in Abilene, Texas. Shortly after her birth, Martha’s parents passed away, and she was raised by her uncle and aunt, Sam and Letitia Savage. Martha married Don Nugent in 1949 in Clovis, NM. She migrated to the Conroe/Willis area from Odessa, TX. Martha enjoyed time with her family, fishing, reading, line dancing, and shopping.

Martha is survived by 3 children, Gloria Lofton, Linda Adams, and Jay Nugent; 6 grandchildren, Joey Adams, James Adams, Cristi Plunkett, Donnie Plunkett, Leslee Nugent, Dylan Jenkins; and great-grandchildren, Kristopher Plunkett, Lexie Romine, and Brynley Jenkins.

She is preceded in death by husband Donald M. Nugent; parents Jenny and James Savage; sisters, Carrie Nell Rowlett and husband Grover, and Mary Maud Whitaker and husband Don; nephew Larry Rowlett; niece Mary Whitaker; uncle Sam Savage and aunt Letitia Savage; and aunt Lou Savage.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 29, 2016 at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.The family requests in Lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity of your choice.

Charles Roberson
Charles "Curtis" Roberson
Charles "Curtis" Roberson passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016, at age 85. Curtis was born Friday, July 17, 1930, in Lunenburg, AR, to Samuel Bruce and Eva Vista (Hudson) Roberson.

Curtis was a member of the Church of Christ. He also loved to play golf, hunt, fish, and was a reloading and gun enthusiast. Curtis was a hard working man he retired from BP working as a gas plant operator. He also spent years as the Water District Superintendant for Winkler County. He truly enjoyed his leisure time and while traveling around the country, Curtis befriended many people. He served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by two daughters: Margie Francis Kellisen and Joyce Ann Beuhler of Odessa, TX; brother: Waydell "John" Roberson of Odessa, TX; sister: Nadene Hathorn of Ruidoso, NM.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Minnie Roberson; parents: Samuel and Eva Roberson; daughter: Janet Eva Gregston; 2 brothers: Everett Roberson and Willard Roberson; and 3 sisters: Virgie Lee Cox, Freeda Mae Williams, and Imogene Meinzer.

Graveside service will be at 2 pm Wednesday January 27, 2016 at the Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, Texas. Service will be officiated by Brother Roy Christopher.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Bobbie Gene Boen
Bobbie G. Boen, age 77, of Jal, passed from this life on Saturday, January 30, 2016. He was born in Fisher County, TX on February 16, 1938, to Grady Houston Boen and Alice Marie (Reeves) Boen-Webster.

Bobbie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Bobbie liked watching college football, fishing watching westerns, listing to classic country music and loved animals. He was very hard working and talented with his hands. He enjoyed fixing things, being a mechanic, and woodworking. Bobby had a big heart and loved helping others. Bobby was truly proud of his grandkids and enjoyed spending his time with them.

He is survived by his beloved wife: Rosemary Boen of Jal, NM; four sons: Roy Peugh and wife Samarya, Rodney Peugh and wife Yvonne, Chris Boen, and Ernesto Boen all of Jal, NM; four daughters: Linda Jean Carter and husband Mark of Gilmer, TX, Vivian Boen and husband Luis of Jal, NM, Vanessa Boen of Phoenix, AZ, and Petra Boen of Jal, NM; four brothers: Clifton Jones of Groesbeck, TX, Wesley Webster and wife Anita of Lafayette, LS, Wayne Webster and wife Marsha of Jal, NM, and James Webster and wife Cindy of Snyder, TX; three sisters: Sarah Powell and husband Frankie of Greenforest, AR, Barbara Brittain and husband Larry of Odessa, TX, and JoJo Pilcher of Jal, NM; ten grandchildren: Roy IV, Reyna, Priscy, April, Destiny, Alexys, Matthew, Joy-Lin, Maddiesol, and Nayeli.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Joyce Boen; father: Grady Boen; mother: Alice Webster; step-father: Will Webster; brother: Douglas Boen; and daughter: Cynthia Boen.

Funeral Services will be 10am MST, Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church in Jal, NM with Brother Alan Speed officiating. Burial with military honors and Masonic Rites will follow at Kermit Cemetery.

Maria Renteria Smith
Maria R. Smith, age 49, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at her home in Jal, NM. She was born in Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico on Saturday, June 18, 1966, to Felipe Renteria and Nemesia (Rodriguez) Tarin.

Maria was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Jal. She enjoyed reading, shopping for antiques and helping the elderly. She spent her time working as a nurses aide and playing with her grandkids, who affectionately called her "Nana". Maria was also known as "Cuca" to her family and close friends.

She is survived by three sons: Marco Allen Smith, July Anthony Smith, and Jaque Sebastian Smith all of Jal, NM; husband: Rick Smith of Jal, NM; step-father: German Tarin of Jal, NM; three brothers: Felipe Renteria and wife Dolores of El Paso, TX, Robert Tarin and wife Margarita of Odessa, TX and Manuel Tarin and wife Lupe Santillan of Odessa, TX; five sisters: Luz Lopez and husband Juan of Odessa, TX, Lourdes Morales and husband Oscar of Hobbs, NM, Deborah Loya and husband Luis of Odessa, TX, Irene Mendoza and husband Jose of Jal, NM, and Patricia Coss and husband Juan of Hobbs, NM; two grandchildren Danyull Smith and Serenity Rosemarie Smith; and her dear sister-in-law Melvena Lason and the Chris Lason family.

Preceding her in death were her parents: Felipe Renteria and Nemesia Tarin; two brothers: George and Angel Renteria; and grandparents: Severiano Rodriquez and Julia Valeriano.

A private funeral ceremony was held in Jal, NM on Friday, February 12, 2016. Interment was at Jal Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.
Robert White
Robert Lee White Sr.
Robert Lee White Sr., age 66, passed from this life on Thursday, February 11, 2016. He was born in Kilgore, TX on September 22, 1949, to the late James Edward and Miriam Bickerstaff. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

Robert was a hardworking man who enjoyed woodworking, fishing, watching T.V. and movies. He was a good father and adored his kids and grandkids. He proudly served his country as a US Marine during Vietnam and was a member of the Wink Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his beloved wife: Julie White of Wink, TX; three sons: Jayme “JW” White of Wink, TX; Robert Lee White Jr. of Nacogdoches, TX and Billy Shane White of Nacogdoches, TX; one daughter: Marvina Lee White of Wink, TX; four brothers: James E. White and wife Sharron of Odessa, TX; Paul L. White of San Angelo, TX; Cecil A. White and wife Daina and John D. White and wife Pam of Wink, TX; sister: Martha Jo Hoge and husband Ron of ME; five grandchildren: Autumn, April, Savannah, Brittany and Ellie Marie and one great-grandchild.

Funeral Services will be 2 pm, Monday, February 15, 2016 at Family Services Funeral Chapel with Brother Jeffrey Lee officiating. Billy Ralph Emerson Sr.
Billy Ralph Emerson Sr., age 78, of Jal, NM. passed from this life on Saturday, February 13, 2016. He was born in Erath County, TX on February 6, 1938, to Russell E. and Ida Lorene (Green) Emerson. Billy married Linda Hunter on June 11, 1959 in Kermit, TX. and they celebrated 56 years together before her death in 2015.

Billy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He had a true passion for fishing. “Slick” as he was known by all his friends loved to travel, work outside, was very outgoing and a bit of a flirt. He loved his family and spoiled his grandkids. His family often called him “Sonny”.

He is survived by his sons: Billy Emerson Jr. and wife Laura of Odessa, TX., Mike Emerson of Jal, NM., and Danny Emerson and wife Rose of Carlsbad, NM.; daughter: Janice King of Eunice, NM.; sisters: Jerry Emerson of La Puente, CA., June Buffington and husband Eddie of Lubbock, TX., and Mollie Montgomery and husband LeRoy of PawPaw, MI.; eleven grandchildren: Elizabeth, Emerson, Kelsey, Brittany, Brook, Lydia, Michelle, Ashley, Alex, James, and Crystal; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Linda Emerson; parents: Russell and Ida Emerson; brother: Jimmy Russell Emerson; and sisters: Nancy Jane Encelewski and Marie Pipes

Funeral Services will be 2 pm MST, Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Church of God in Jal, NM with Brother John Earp officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Jal Cemetery. Pallbearers will include: Luis Zavala, Justin Wright, James Emerson, Brandon Emerson, Gregg Fulfer, Scott Hughes. Maria De Los Angeles Caballero, age 56, of Kermit, TX, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in Kermit, TX. She was born February 3, 1960 in Ojinaga, MX to Arcadio and Valentina (Garcia) Gonzalez.

Maria’s sisters fondly called her “Chompiras”. She loved to shop and collected watches and purses. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed traveling. She also loved cooking out, going fishing and exploring.

She is survived by her husband: Luis Humberto Caballero of Ojinaga, MX; her mother: Valentina Gonzalez of Kermit, TX; one son: James Rivas and fiance Michelle Abalos of Kermit, TX; one daughter: Carla Rivas of Kermit, TX; four brothers: Abraham Gonzalez and wife Sylvia of Kermit, TX, Gilbert Gonzalez and wife Gina of Pecos, TX, Ruben Gonzalez of Kermit, TX and Arturo Gonzalez and wife Amparo of Kermit, TX; four sisters: Josephina Saenz and husband Reymundo of Kermit, TX, Sylvia Soberanes of Mineral Wells, TX, Teresa Lujan of Mineral Wells, TX and Mague Lujan and husband Richy Kermit, TX; three grandchildren: James Jr. Rivas, Caesar Rivas and Areli Rivas.

She was preceded in death by her father: Arcadio Gonzalez.

Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Iglesias Apostolica de la fe en Cristo Jesus in Kermit, TX, with Brother Robert Moreno officiating. Interment will follow at the Kermit Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Abraham Gonzalez, Arturo Gonzalez, Gilbert Gonzalez, Albert Gonzalez, Abraham Jr. Gonzalez, Richy Lujan and Imnok Saenz.

Betty Lou Morggette
Betty Lou Morggette, age 79, of Kermit, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016. She was born on February 20, 1936 in Ector County to Yebington and Jessie Halmeton (Ford) Kerr.

Betty was a member of the Church of God in Kermit. She was an artist and a woodcarver. Betty was an award winning poet and a collector of Western memorabilia. She loved God and greatly enjoyed sharing her faith with others through preaching and teaching Bible classes.

Betty is survived by two sons: Charles Jerome and wife Kathy of Snyder, TX, and Allen Jerome and wife Wendey of Wink, TX; three daughters: Linda Roberts of Lleveland, TX, Bobbie Cotton and husband Eddie of Osage, AR, and Evonne Watkins and husband Jeff of Big Spring, TX; eleven grandchildren; and twenty one great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2016 at Northside Baptist Church officiated by Malcolm Cotton Jr.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Betty's name may be made to Honor Our Troops at H. O. T. 4044 Penbrook St. Odessa, TX 79762.

Hope Mei Juarez, age 1 day, of Kermit, TX, passed away at the time of her birth on Thursday, February 18 , 2016 in Odessa, TX. She was born to Benito Juarez III and Desiree Montes.

She is survived by her parents: Benito Juarez III and Desiree Montes of Kermit; grandparents: Claudia Montes, Benito Juarez Jr., Anabey Juarez all of Kermit; great-grandparents: Claudio and Lupe Montes of Kermit, TX; Benito Sr. and Margarita Juarez of Kermit, TX., Berta Lujan of Mulato, MX., and Salvador and Hermelinda Hinojos of Pecos, TX.

Graveside Funeral Services will be Monday, February 22, 2016 at 10:00 am, at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX, with Sister Blanca Polanco officiating.

Robert Lee Haley
Robert Lee Haley, age 58, passed from this life on Sunday, February 21, 2016 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born in Kermit, TX on July 20, 1957 to Robert Eugene and Darby Joy (Crabb) Haley.

"Lee" as he was known to his friends and family, was a hardworking man who enjoyed being outside exploring. He could often be found looking for artifacts such as arrowheads and pottery or searching for something a little more valuable with his metal detector. Lee enjoyed woodworking and riding motorcycles and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA). He was the worship leader for Corner Stone Fellowship Church in Brownwood where he dedicated his musical talents to serving the church. Lee had a passion for shooting and was proud of his collection of firearms. Lee was a good father and adored his kids and grandkids. He had an extreme devotion for his family and would have given up everything to protect them.

He is survived by his son: Dawson Haley and wife Trisha of Concho, AZ; sisters: Sherry Bailey and husband Jack of Odessa, TX., Ann Mitchell and husband Billy of Midland, TX., and Anita Haley of Panama, OK.; three grandchildren: Tyler Haley, Brandon Haley and Justin Haley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother: Dawson Trent Haley.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Family Services Funeral Chapel with Dawson Haley officiating. Pallbearers will include: Dawson Haley, Chris Haley, Tyler Haley, Brandon Haley, Justin Haley and Scott Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Billy Mitchell, John Mitchell, Matt Mitchell, and Jerold Mitchell. Floyd Wayne Huddleston, age 58, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 in Kermit, TX. He was born in Pampa, TX on August 10, 1957, to Floyd B. and Velda Jo (McCathern) Huddleston.

Wayne as he was known to his friends and family was a real “character”. He was a “cut up” and a “jokester” who enjoyed entertaining others. His favorite saying was “Hang it in your ear”. If things were broken he enjoyed fixing them. Wayne was a hard working man who was devoted to his family. He loved his grandkids dearly. He had a special attachment for his in laws: Richard and Carolyn Coffman.

He is survived by his wife: Carla Huddleston of Kermit, TX; two sons: Caleb Huddleston of Kermit, TX and Robert Coffman of Midland, TX; two daughters: Niki House and husband Dusty of Ft. Worth, TX and Jeannie Shanks of Wilson, OK; five sisters: Debbie Watson and husband Brad of Marshall, TX; Lori Smith of Pampa, TX; Gail Dobbs and husband Brent of Pampa, TX; Patricia Parks and husband Tommy of Pampa, TX and Ellen Gage and husband Jeff of Pampa, TX; two grandchildren: Eiljah Coffman and Kiah Coffman; special friends: Bill and Lee Gillis and Tonya Garza, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his parents: Floyd and Velda Jo Huddleston; grandparents Rufus and Opal McCathern; sister: Mary Joyce Cardwell and brother-in-law: Joe Smith.

Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, March12, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Brother Richard Coffman officiating. A private burial will be help at a later date.
