Jose Javier Valdez
Jose Javier Valdez Sr.
Jose Javier Valdez Sr., age 63, went to sleep in death on Monday, October 5, 2015 to await the resurrection, and Jehovah’s promise of everlasting life on an earthly paradise. He was born March 18, 1952 in Corpus Christi, TX to Fidel and Margarita (Trevino) Valdez.

Jose married the love of his life Bellarina on October 25, 1969 in Gregory, Texas. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He was a hard working man who spent his life working in the oil field and was known for being a great provider for his family. Jose will always be remembered for his love of horses. He enjoyed training and racing them. He also enjoyed the sport of boxing.

Preceding him in death are his parents: Fidel and Margarita Valdez and his brother: Doroteo Valdez.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, October 8, 2015 at La Tropicana Ballroom with brother John Lujan officiating. Pallbearers will include: Joey Valdez; Fidel Valdez; Mario Valdez; Roland Saucedo; Freddy Muro, Miguel Romo and Jessie Valdez. Jennifer Ann Tarin

Jennifer Ann Tarin, age 35, of Jal, NM, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 in Odessa, TX. She was born July 10, 1980 in Kermit, TX to Maurilio and Yolanda (Sanchez) Olivas Sr.

Jenny was a fun- loving, strong woman who loved selfies, gardening and loud music. She loved watching her ghost shows. She was a beloved mother who loved her children dearly. She was full of life and everyone loved being around her. She was very strong in the faith. All her hugs, kisses and special moments spent with family and friends will be cherished forever in their hearts.

She is survived by her mother: Yolanda Sanchez of Jal, NM; her father Maurilio Olivas Sr. of Kermit, TX; two sons: Eduardo and Alejandro “Alex” Tarin of Jal, NM; one daughter: Isabella Sanchez of Jal, NM; paternal grandmother: Gregoria Olivas of Kermit, TX; one brother:  Maurilio Olivas Jr. of Kermit, TX; two sisters: Dalia Tatiana Olivas of Kermit, TX and Daniella Olivas of Kermit, TX; seven uncles: Julian O. Sanchez Jr. and wife Delma, George M. Sanchez, Roberto Sanchez and wife Faye, Jesse Sanchez, Benny Sanchez, Ranulfo Olivas and wife Avilia and Roque Olivas; five aunts: Linda Orona, Ruby Gallardo and husband Jaime Sr., Anna Hernandez and husband Arnulfo, Maria Campos and husband Jose and Veronica Olivas; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Jennifer is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Viola and Julian O. Sanchez Sr.; paternal grandfather: Alvaro Olivas Sr. and three uncles: Norverto Olivas, Alvaro Olivas Jr. and Ruben Orona; and one niece: Darianna Olivas.

A rosary will be said at 7:00 pm Monday, October 12, 2015 at Family Services Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, TX, with Father Mark Salas officiating. Interment will follow at the Kermit Cemetery. Maria A. Campos, age 78, of Kermit, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 in Kermit, TX. She was born May 27, 1937 in Zacatecas, MX to Pablo and Ester (Sandoval) Lopez. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Maria was a very independent and strong woman. She was a hard worker, who loved being the “Boss”. She had a love for gardening, cooking, crocheting and sewing.

She is survived by her husband: Hermenejildo Campos of Kermit, TX; two sons: Carlos Trejo and wife Teresa of Dallas, TX and Alejandro Trejo and wife Maria of Kermit, TX; one brother: Javier Lopez and wife Concepcion of Kermit, TX; one brother-in-law: Francisco Martinez; two sisters: Vicenta Gonzalez Odessa, TX and Guadalupe Alvarez and husband Otoniel of Fort Hancock, TX; nine grandchildren: Norma, Veronica, Silvia, Griselda, Rosa, Jessie, Yesenia, Alejandra and Carlos Jr.; twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.
Maria is preceded in death by two brothers: Salvador Lopez and Humberto Lopez; two sisters: Maria Medrano and Patrocinio; two brothers-in-law: BernaBe Martinez and Juan Gonzalez; and one grandchild: Alejandro Trejo Jr.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, TX. Interment will follow at the Kermit Cemetery. Jesus Anaya Ortega, age 73, passed from this life on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at a residence in Kermit, TX. He was born on December 3, 1941 to Jose Ortega and Domingo (Anaya) Ortega. He was a devout Catholic and strong in his faith.

Jesus, also known as “Maro” to all his friends and family, was very kind hearted and generous. He would give the shirt off his back if someone was in need. He was a hard working man who loved life, loved to laugh and had a contagious smile. Maro loved to make others smile. His memory will live on, in all the lives he touched throughout his journey on earth.

Rene Shafer Blakeney
Rene Blakeney, age 94, formerly of Kermit , passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015, in Atlanta, GA. She was born in Gause, TX, on January 1, 1921, to John Frank and Zola May (Watson) Shafer. She married the love of her life, C.L. "Blake" Blakeney, on April 16, 1960, in Kermit, TX. Together they owned and operated Blake’s Sporting Goods for many years. She was an active member of the community and a member of the Eastside Church of Christ.

She was a independent, compassionate, beautiful woman with a contagious smile, heart of gold and a sharp sense of style and humor. She was an excellent cook, renowned for her chicken and dumplings and pecan pie. She was truly an amazing woman who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to carry on her legacy include her son: Leon Blakeney of St. Paul, MN; grandsons: Drew Blakeney of Atlanta, GA, O'Brian Blakeney and wife Pattie of Big Spring, TX, and Lee Blakeney and wife Karen of Atlanta, GA, Michael Blakeney of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Lynn Blakeney Rogers and husband Cole of Midland, TX, Tyler Blakeney of Oakland, CA, and Matthew Blakeney of Big Spring, TX; and great-great-grandchild, Charli Rogers of Midland, TX.

She is preceded in death by her husband, C.L. "Blake” Blakeney, her parents: John and Zola Shafer and ten siblings.

Wanda Joyce O'Neil
Wanda Joyce O'Neil, age 84, of Jal, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, in Artesia, NM. She was born in Midland County, TX, on April 16, 1931 to Clifton Allen and Velma Junie (Sweatt) Brown.

She married Cecil O'Neil, on May 27 1948, in Midland, TX. They celebrated 61 years together before being separated by his death in 2009. In her early years she worked for Brook's Grocery in Midland, then the grocery store in Jal and then retired from the Jal School system after working in the cafeteria for many years. She was an active member of the community and a member of the Jal Church of Christ; where she often helped with bible classes. She loved her ladies bible classes and calling others on the phone. She was a compassionate, beautiful, Christian woman with a contagious smile, heart of gold and a sharp sense of humor. She enjoyed her water aerobics and going to the Senior Citizens Center. She loved her family dearly and adored her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was truly an amazing woman who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

O'Neil Jr. and Pat of Odessa, TX; daughters: Alice Dehnel and husband Richard of Sundown, TX and LoRae McFarden and husband Glenn of Artesia, NM; daughter-in-law: Tammie O'Neil of Kemmerer, WY; sisters: Faye Davie and husband Maxie of El Paso, TX and Beni Brown of Midland, TX; ten grandchildren: Cory O'Neil and Sasha, Clay O'Neil, Casey Hernandez and husband Steve, Crissy Torres and husband Cisco, Sheena Salo and husband Dan, Robert O'Neil and wife Sarah, Rachel Willard and husband Allen, Russell Courtney, Katie McFarden and KaLee Dehnel; great-grandchildren: Jordynn, Logan, Bella, Isaac, Harley, Destiny, E.J. Diego, Cira, Ceeko, Shawn, Nathan, Jaxson, Brynlee, and Ella; several sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews and many special friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Cecil O'Neil, her parents, Clifton and Velma Brown and her son: Allen L. O'Neil.

James Edward Wicker Jr.
James Edward Wicker Jr., age 62, passed away in Monahans, TX on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. He was born on Wednesday, January 14, 1953 in Jonesboro, AR to James Edward Wicker Sr. and Kathryn (Sharp) Wicker.
James attended UEI College where he received a degree in electrical engineering. He enjoyed working on electronics and hanging out with friends. He loved music and karaoke. James was a member of many bands such as the Arkansas Travelers and Stars Over Texas, where he played bass, guitar and sang.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother: Kathryn Wicker of Wink, TX; one son: Dustin Tatro and fiance Staci of Abilene, TX; two sisters: Jeanie Kirby of Austin, TX and Tabatha Gilbert and husband Brad of Kermit, TX.

Vanessa Vasquez, age 33, of Kermit, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 in Kermit, TX. She was born March 30, 1982 in Odessa, TX to Ruben and Guadalupe (Gardea) Bonilla.

Vanessa loved to shop and was known for her great sense of style and dressing elegantly. She was a radiant woman who was very happy and full of life and energy. She could easily make others laugh. Her presence would always lift the spirit of those around her. Vanessa was a good cook who enjoyed barbequing, traveling, music and dancing.

She is survived by her husband: Ruben Montaño of Pecos, TX; five sons: Jose Vasquez Jr. and wife Emily Gonzales of Kermit, TX, Fabian Vasquez of Kermit, TX, Rodrigo Vasquez of Kermit, TX, Yahir Montaño of Pecos, TX and Andre Montaño of Pecos, TX; one daughter: Yamir Montaño of Pecos, TX; mother: Guadalupe Franco and husband Pancho of Andrews, TX; father: Ruben Bonilla of Eastland, TX; grandparents: Isidoro and Genova Gardea of Kermit, TX and Felipe and Guadalupe Bonilla of Eastland, TX; two brothers: Javier “Mulato” Bonilla and wife Cynthia of Kermit, TX and Ruben Bonillo Jr. of Andrews, TX; one sister: Nora Bonilla and husband Eddie Guardiola of Kermit, TX; and one grandchild: Alizae Marie Vasquez.

Billy Wayne Wright, age 63, of Nacogdoches, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015. He was born in Wink, TX, on May 24, 1952, to Raymond and Cleta Mae (Turner) Wright.

Billy loved to ride motorcycles and fix cars. He enjoyed going to auctions to find treasures. "Papa" as he was called by his grandkids was extremely proud of his family and greatly enjoyed spending time with them.

Leticia V. Gonzalez, age 54, of Kermit, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 in Fort Worth, TX. She was born August 27, 1961 in Laredo, TX to Leobardo and Zuelma (Alvarez) Villarreal Sr.

Leticia was a loving wife who enjoyed cooking homemade meals for her family. She put all her love into everything she cooked and was known for her delicious “sweet tea”. Leticia loved life to the fullest and loved making new friends. Family was important to her and she adored her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband: Elias Gonzalez of Kermit, TX; two sons: Aaron Gonzalez and fiancée Denisse del Bosque of Odessa, TX and Abner Gonzalez and wife Yulianna of Odessa, TX; two daughters: Crystal Gonzalez and husband Lance Smith and Elizabeth Cabillo and husband Jesse of Odessa, TX; three brothers: Leovardo Villerreal Jr. and wife Cruz of Pecos, TX, Lauro Villerreal and wife Bertha of Pecos, TX and Joel Villerreal and wife Norma of Pecos, TX; six sisters: Sylvia Guerra and husband Rene Sr. of Pecos, TX, Elvia Ramirez and husband Baldomero of Austin, TX, Hilda Bustamante of Laredo, TX, Mary Gabaldon and husband Robert Sr. of Pecos, TX, Carmen Estrella and husband Raul of Pecos, TX and Dalia Franco and husband Jesus Sr. of Pecos; six grandchildren: Natilia, Yuliet, Stephanie, Manuel, Ethan and Ian; numerous other special family members and many, many friends.

Amy Lynn Valenzuela, age 29, of Kermit, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 in Kermit, TX. She was born July 6, 1986 in Gallup, NM to Joe and Elaine Valenzuela.
Amy loved to cook, clean and watch her shows on TV. She was very happy and full of life and energy. Amy love taking care of others, especially children.

She is survived by her father: Joe Valenzuela of Kermit, TX; sons: Joseph Lara and Andrew Lara of Kermit, TX.; brother: Randy Diaz of Gallup, NM., sister: Sara Valenzuela of Kermit, TX.; grandparents: Frank and Mary Valenzuela; Aunts and Uncles: Frank Valenzuela Jr. and wife Debbie, Mike Valenzuela and wife Lupe, Estella Mares and husband Pablo, Danny Valenzuela and wife Ida; Nieces and Nephews: Ryan, ReMarie, David, Damian, Angelica, and Randy John.

Felix (Tata) Garcia, age 81, of Kermit, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 in Odessa, TX. He was born March 31, 1934 in Pecos, TX to Teofilo and Jesus (Muniz) Garcia. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Felix had a love for growing plants. He had a contagious smile that could light up a room. His jokes would make others smile. He was an upbeat and happy person who never met a stranger. Felix was a hard working man who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He was loved by all.

He is survived by two daughters: Mia Tammad and husband Michael of Odessa, TX and Patti Thomason of Lubbock, TX; one brother: Santiago Garcia and wife Consuelo of Pecos, TX; one sister: Juliana Garcia of Barstow, TX; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Patricia Ann Garcia; and two sisters: Gregoria Garcia and Lydia Contreras and his parents: Teofilo and Jesus Garcia.

A Rosary will be held starting at 5:00 pm, Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Family Services Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Monday, November 30, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, TX, with Father Mark Salas officiating.

Lorenzo Robledo, age 75, of Kermit, TX, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 in Kermit, TX. He was born August 10, 1940 in Alpine, TX to Elisandro and Francisca (Madrid) Robledo.

Lorenzo had a deep love for fishing and being with family and friends. He enjoyed riding his bike around town. In his free time he liked watching old western movies, listening to music and dancing when he was able.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers: Adelaida Fierro and Rudy Robledo, both of Kermit, TX; Marciano Robledo, Mike Robledo and Joe Robledo, all of Seminole, TX; Jimmy Robledo and wife Margie of Amarillo, TX; Elisandro Robledo Jr. and wife Mary, Velma Ruiz and Sallie Robledo, all of Santa Maria, CA and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many, many friends.

Lorenzo is preceded in death by his parents: Elisandro and Francisca Robledo; two brothers: Danny Robledo and Isidro Robledo; two sister-in-laws: Dora Robledo and San Juanita Robledo; and one brother-in-law: Manuel Sonny Fierro.

A Rosary will be held starting at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Family Services Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 2, 2015 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX, with Marcos Zuniga officiating. A cremation will follow services.

Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.
