German Caballero
German “Big Body” Caballero

German “Big Body” Caballero, age 25, of Wink, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was born September 22, 1989 in Monahans, Texas to Orion Caballero and Enedelia Hinostroza.

German was a man who deeply loved his family. He enjoyed playing with his children and watching movies.  He loved being outside with his wife, kids, family and friends.  German was a hardworking man and good provider for his family.  He strived to always give them the very best.

German is survived by his spouse: Brianna Quiroz of Wink; his father: Orion Caballero and wife Ana of Midland; his mother: Enedelia Hinostroza of Hobbs; his grandfather: Patricio Caballero of Kermit; one son: Julian Rolando Caballero of Wink; one daughter: Maripaz Hailia Caballero of Wink; two brothers: Oriol Caballero and wife Mayela of Hobbs; and Abel Caballero and wife Ashlie of Kermit; one sister: Yuricel Caballero and husband Raymond of Monahans; four nieces: Dalay Caballero, Rosalynn Caballero, Reina Vidana and Eleina Vidana; father and mother-in-law: Jose and Arsilia Montanez of Wink.

He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Sebastian and Juana Hinostroza and paternal grandmother: Rosa Caballero.

A rosary will be held 7:00 pm, Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Family Services Funeral Parlor.  Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, February 16, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit with Father Rudy Lacerna officiating.  Pallbearers will include: Oriol Caballero, Abel Caballero, Enrique Santos, David Levario, Jaime Valdez, and Raymond Vidaņo.  Honorary Pallbearers will include:  Patricio Caballero, Orion Caballero, Dimas Quiroz, Jose Montanez, Ivan Montanez, Jose Armendariz, Alex Pando, and Jorge Vasquez.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

LeRoy Henson
LeRoy Henson

LeRoy Henson, age 87, of Jal went to be with his heavenly father, Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at his home in Jal surrounded by his family. He was born on September 16, 1927 in Willis, Oklahoma to Archie F. and Ollie Beatrice (Bell) Henson. He was a member of the Jal Church of Christ. LeRoy married his loving wife, Helen, on September 10, 1946 and they celebrated 68 years together. 

LeRoy was a man who liked to work with his hands.  He was a woodworker who enjoyed making furniture such as rocking chairs, tables, and rocking horses.  He also built several homes and garages.  LeRoy spent time as a mechanic, pilot, fireman and won trophies for bowling.  He was also an outdoorsman who hunted and fished.  LeRoy was best known for being very patient; his family attributes this to raising four daughters.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife: Helen Henson of Jal; four daughters:  Penny Garcia of Lubbock, Iona Kemp and husband Charlie of Jal, Kaye Henson-Newsom and husband Skip of Del Rio, and Gaye Alexander and husband Sam of Jal; fourteen grandchildren:  Jeannie Amalla, Peter Garcia, Anita Erskin, Danny Garcia, Tapatha Willis, Myriah Kimble, Scott Baldwin, Kathy Marquart, Lester Kemp, Becky Houser, Michael Deupree, Kerri Deupree, Makayla Alexander, and Samuel Alexander; 22 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Archie and Ollie Henson and his sister: Imogene Ward.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm MST, Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Jal Church of Christ in Jal, NM with Brother Daryl Micham officiating.  Interment will follow at Jal Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Dax Kimble, Devane Amalla, Kent Willis, Kelby Kimble, Sam Alexander and Samuel Alexander.  Honorary pallbearers will include: James Locklar, Charles Albertson, Don Trice, Dewayne Jennings, Gerald Anderson, and Humberto Rodriguez, Arrangements were entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Annie Mills
Annie Belle Mills

Annie Belle Mills, age 95,  passed away on February 28, 2015 in Pittsburg, Texas.  She was born in Glencoe, Lincoln County, NM on October 30, 1919 to Nelson & Agnes B. (Coe) Bonnell.  (The Coe & Bonnell families were early settlers in the Hondo Valley.) She married Tee S. Mills on August 12, 1939 in Alamogordo, NM and moved to Kermit.

Ann lived in Kermit for 67 years before moving to Pittsburg, Texas. She accepted the Lord at the age of 11 in Glencoe. She was baptized at First Baptist Church at the age of twenty. She later joined Grace Temple Church and that was her church and church family until the end. Her body moved to Pittsburg, but her heart stayed in Kermit. She was active at Grace Temple as a Sunday School teacher, joined a ladies class and was involved in the Keen-agers in later years.  She also Volunteered carrying lunches to Senior Citizens and spent time visiting at the nursing home. She thought it amusing that later in life, she was getting lunches from the Senior Center and living in the Kermit nursing home.  For fun in Kermit, the Mills family played cards & dominos with friends.  She also enjoyed playing cards and games with all her grandkids.  She lived a good life and was the happiest the last few years playing Skip-Bo with her granddaughter Whitney.

She is preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, her husband of 44 years: Tee S. Mills, and two grandchildren:  Cheryl Lynn McKinley Glenn and Kyle Brenner.

She is survived by four daughters:  Barbara and husband Earl McKinley of Perryton, TX; Judy and husband Dan Lewis of Artesia, NM, Mary and husband Ken Willis of Sugar Land ,TX, Ginger and husband Lanny Brenner of Pittsburg, TX; eight grandchildren:  Dan S. Lewis  & wife Theresa of Artesia, NM, Duane Lewis & wife Cheri of Paris, TX, Michael McKinley of Yukon, OK, Jennifer Beech and husband Scott of Houston, TX, Jill Nesting & husband Don of Houston, TX, Russ Willis of Houston, TX, Kelly Simmons and husband Michael of Flint, TX and Whitney Brenner of Pittsburg, TX. She also had seventeen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Friday, March 6, 2015 at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Kermit, TX with Pastor Mike Elliott officiating.  She is to be buried next to her husband in the Kermit Cemetery immediately following funeral services.  Pallbearers will include her grandsons and great-grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, Ann would like books & Bibles to be given to churches or individuals .

Anadina Awbrey
Anadina Berzoza Awbrey

Anadina Berzoza Awbrey, age 73, passed away on March 15, 2015 in Odessa, Texas.  She was born in Berino, Dona Ana County, NM on August 19, 1941 to Anastacio and Manuella (Bustillos) Berzoza.  She married Lloyd Awbrey in Odessa, TX.

Anadina was an excellent cook.  She was especially known for her delicious enchiladas. Not only was she a great cook, but she loved to decorate and shop as well.  One of her favorite things to shop for was jewelry.  Anadina was always wearing her beautiful jewelry. Her children describe her as the best momma and loving grandma in the world.  They often called her Dean.  She loved her family so very much. 

She is preceded in death by her husband: Lloyd Awbrey, parents: Anasticio & Serfina Versosa, one brother: Ramon Berzoza and three sisters: Manuela Pando, Emma Pando, & Maria Bueno.

She is survived by two daughters:  Elvira Chavez and husband Martin of Andrews, TX and Vicky Briseno of Odessa, TX; two brothers: Reymundo Berzoza and wife Margarite of Kermit, TX and Tony Versosa and wife Marie of El Paso, TX; two sisters: Josefina Aguirre and husband W.E. of Kermit, TX and Herlinda Ortiz and husband David of Big Lake, TX; and one grandchild: Martin Chavez II.  

A Rosary will be held 7 pm, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Family Services Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 am, March 19, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kermit, TX with Father Rudy Lacerna officiating.  She is to be buried in the Kermit Cemetery immediately following.  Pallbearers will include Charles Ortiz, Eli Pando, Robert Gonzales, Mundie Berzoza, Raymond Berzoza Jr., and Victor Berzoza.  Honorary Pallbearers will include Sammy Aguirre, Daniel Aguirre, Johnny Vasquez, Alonzo Pando Jr., Eddie Pando, Gus Pando,  Freddy Aguirre and Sammy Berzoza.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Linda Kay Emerson
Linda Kay Emerson

Linda Kay Emerson, age 72, of Jal, New Mexico, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 in Midland, TX. She was born November 7, 1942 in Granite, TX to Thomas and Bessie (Wills) Hunter.

Linda loved being with her family, going to church functions and studying the Bible. Linda was known as “NaNa” by everyone. She enjoyed traveling with her family, crocheting, and reading. She loved the color purple and visiting “Mary” for her morning coffee.

She is survived by her husband: Billy Ray Emerson of Jal, NM; three sons: Billy Emerson Jr. and wife Laura of Odessa, TX, Mike Emerson of Jal, NM and Danny Emerson and wife Rosie of Carlsbad, NM; one daughter: Janice King of Jal, NM; one brother: Edwin Keith Hunter and wife Susan of Lampases, TX; ten grandchildren: Elizabeth, Kelsey and husband Luis, Brittany and husband Ever, Brook, Lydia and husband Luis, Michelle, Ashley, Alexandra, Jamie and Chrissy and husband John; twelve great-grandchildren: Skarlette, Madison, Elyssa, Roselyn, Yasmin, Ealexya, Jacoby, Luis, Daniel, Kaylee, Brandon and Laura.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandma Wills.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm MST, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Jal Church of God in Jal, NM with Pastor John Earp officiating.  Interment will follow at Jal Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Billy Emerson, Danny Emerson, Brandon Emerson, Edwin Hunter, Matthew Hunter and Mike Emerson.  Honorary Pallbearers will include: Robert Hunter and Sean Hunter.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Rose M Webb
Rose Marie Webb

Rose Marie Webb, age 84, of Jal, NM, went to be with her Lord and Savior on  Monday, March 23, 2015 in Lubbock, TX. She was born on March 27, 1930 in Rising Star, TX to the late William Harvey Caudle and Arlie (Bryant) Caudle.

Rosie was an active member of First Baptist Church in Jal, NM.  She graduated from Eunice High School in Eunice, NM and lived most of her adult life in Jal.  Rosie was an artist of many mediums, and regardless of her profession at any time, her creativity and spirit shone through.  She crafted beautifully as a hairdresser, a cake decorator, a painter, a seamstress, and countless other hobbies.  She had many interests that were dear to her heart, including roadrunners, lady bugs, and forbidding the changing of the channel while the Denver Broncos were playing.

She is survived by her husband: Doyle Ray Webb of Jal, NM; four sons: Donnie Smith and wife Lavena of Jal, NM, Kevin Webb and wife Karen of Ozona, TX, David Myers and wife Joyce of Midland, TX, Kelly Myers and wife JoAnn of Jal, NM; three daughters: Joyce Pittam and husband Rick of Jal, NM, Jackie Walls and husband Ronnie of Jal, NM, and Susan Brookings and husband Randy of Prosper, TX; one brother: Bill Caudle and wife Barbara of St. Paul, MN; one brother-in-law: Joe Woods of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren: Curt Pittam and wife Daana, Tracy Baten and husband Ara, Jeannie Smith, Desiree Lopez and husband Danny, Kristopher Walls and wife Merry, Craig Walls and wife Raime, Angel Neu and husband Danny, Kendra Hodges and husband Anthony, Marta Wallace, Matt Wallace, Monty Myers and wife Netty, Melissa Lloyd and husband Curtis, Michael Myers and wife Chrystal, Brandy Gooss and husband Jim and Shawn Myers and wife Jenna, and 33 great grandchildren.  

She is preceded in death by brother Harvey Caudle; sister Jean Woods; husband Mack Myers; and grandson: Kyle Webb.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am MST, Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Jal, NM with Pastor Jody O’Briant officiating.  Interment will follow at Jal Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Curt Pittam, Kristopher Walls, Craig Walls, Danny Lopez, Ara Baten, and Danny Neu.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Tressie Tet Flatley

Tressie "Tet" Devota Flattley

Tressie Devota “Tet”  Flattley, age 101, of Kermit, was reunited with her husband, Dick, in heaven on Friday, March 27, 2015 in Hobbs, New Mexico.  She was born in Thalia, Foard County, TX on October 20, 1913 to George Washington Price and Alice Roberta (Hite) Price. She married the love of her life, Richard Robert "Dick" Flattley, on August 23, 1941 in Albuquerque, NM. 

“Tet”, as many knew her, was an intelligent woman with a sharp memory. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ since 1948, where she also taught Sunday School. She had a heart of gold and her love was shown in many ways. Tet graduated from Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX with a BSN as a registered nurse and went on to work at Winkler County Hospital, Robinson’s Clinic and as a School Nurse for Kermit ISD. Tet was a caregiver to many, at one point taking care of her daddy George and husband Richard. She was a strong, independent, beautiful woman with a contagious smile and loving hands. She was a great cook, awesome baker and crocheted with love. She was truly an amazing woman with great dignity and will be missed by everyone. 

Those left to carry on her legacy include her son: George Michael “Mike” Flattley and wife Jeannette of Albuquerque, NM; daughter: Judy Taylor and husband Rusty of Hobbs, NM.  She also had six grandchildren: Steve Sims, Kim Bell, Jeremy Flattley, Becky Wagner, Julie Forbes, Loren Hamrick, eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way. 

She is preceded in death by her husband: Richard Robert “Dick” Flattley; 3 brothers: Marvin Price, C.W. Price and Gordon Price; and two sisters: Florence Olive and Essie Simmons. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am, Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Eastside Church of Christ in Kermit, TX with Brother Joe Carrasco officiating.  She is to be buried next to her husband in the Kermit Cemetery immediately following services.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Mary Shelley Lund
Mary Shelley Lund

Mary Shelley Lund, age 84,  passed away on March 29, 2015 in Midland, Texas.  She was born in Rockdale, TX on July 3, 1930 to Rhett and Bernice (Beard) Wilder. 

Mary was a loving person who enjoyed visiting with people.  She spent over 40 years as a Mary Kay consultant.  Family was truly important to Mary and she cherished all the time she spent traveling to visit relatives.  Mary occasionally went by the special nickname of "Punk" which was bestowed on her by her brother.

She is preceded in death by her two husbands:  Kenneth Shelley and Lowell Lund; parents: Rhett and Bernice; three brothers:  Rhett Wilder Jr., Perry Wilder, and Pat Wilder; one sister:  Nancy Clark; and one great-grandson:  Tyllere Frie.

She is survived by three daughters:  Loretta Tarango and husband Rudy of Midland, Vickie Frie and husband T.J. of Wink and Melinda Compton and husband Randy of Midland; one sister: Agnes Bennett and husband Layton of Seattle, WA.; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. 

Graveside Memorial Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Thursday,  April 02, 2015 at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX with Pastor Joe Mohler officiating.  Honorary Pallbearers will include Tommy J. Frie, Chris Compton, Brent Compton, Justin Tarango, and Brandon Tarango.   Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Carter Stewart
Carter “Rusty” Stewart

Carter “Rusty” Stewart passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at age 92.  Carter was born Friday, December 8, 1922, in Caddo, Texas, to Henry Hamilton Stewart and Chloe (Carter) Stewart.

Carter actively served as a member of the Masonic lodge.  He also loved to play golf and baseball in his younger years. He truly enjoyed his leisure time. Carter befriended many people in Winkler County.  He served his country in both WWII and in Korea.

He is survived by daughter: Linda Cox and husband Paul of Monahans, TX; son: Lonnie Ray Stewart and wife Claudia of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren: Brianna Haggard and Brian Haggard; and two great-grandchildren: Justin and Patrick.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.  He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Chloe (Carter) Stewart; and his brother: Clark Stewart.

Graveside service will be at 10 am Wednesday April 8, 2015 at the Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, Texas. Service officiated by Pastor Daniel Kowacich.  Honorary Pallbearers will include Cary Stewart and Barry Stewart.

Evelyn Lucille Stephens

Evelyn Lucille Stephens, age 83, passed away on April 7, 2015 in Odessa, TX.  She was born in Provencal, Louisiana on February12, 1932 and was married to Edwin Donald Stephens.

Evelyn loved to crochet, sew and take care of others. “Pug,” as her family called her, was a fantastic cook and was well known for her banana bread. She was a woman with a strong opinion and will. She will always be remembered as a little spit-fire.

She is survived by son: Larry R. Whitehead and wife Sheila of Natchitoches, LA; two daughters: Donna Jean Beasley and husband Curtis of Dalhart, TX and Becky Lucille Page and husband Darrell of Arab, AL; one brother: Glenn Clary and wife Tammy of Zwolle, LA; two sisters: Audrey Armstrong of Zwolle, LA and Barbara Sanders and husband Ray of Winnfield, LA; six grandchildren: Larry Howard Whitehead, Ryan Curtis Beasley, Phillip Cole Beasley, Amanda Renee Heidecker, Jessica Lucille Pool and Kyle Wayne Page, six great grandchildren: Judd Randall Pool, Alicia Mendoza, Madelyn Jane Beasley, Holden Wayne Pool, Caroline Reese Page and Jennifer Whitehead.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Edwin Donald Stephens; one daughter: Sarah Gail Wright; three brothers: J.D. Clary, George Clary and Orbon Clary; and two sisters: Bernice McDonald and Elaine Sepulvado; and her parents.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX with Millard Dodson officiating.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include Ryan Beasley, Phillip Beasley, Bob Heidecker and Howard Whitehead. Wilma June Boyd
Wilma June Boyd, age 84, of Kermit, TX, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX. She was born on January 31, 1931 in Sacramento, CA to the late Charles and Stella (Oliver) Coburn.

June was truly the best cook God ever put on earth. She was a very loving and wonderful caregiver to all. Everything she did was with love and a huge heart. She was blessed with a “Green Thumb’ and could grow anything. She loved all plants but was especially fond of tea roses and daffodils. She was a hard worker who enjoyed garage sales and gardening. She will be missed dearly by everyone.

She is survived by her two sons: Fred Shipley and wife Joyce of Carlsbad, NM and Bob Shipley and wife Dana of Kermit, TX; two daughters: Sue Bradford and Homer Mendoza and Jerrie Rosch and husband Wild Bill, both of Kermit, TX; seven grandchildren: Freddy Shipley of Carlsbad, NM, Austin Shipley of Kermit, Destani Schulze and husband Victor of San Angelo, TX, Chay Shipley and wife Francis of Midland, TX, Cole Shipley and wife Mendy of Magnolia, TX, Kelly Bradford and Trinity Walker of Kermit, TX and India Rosch of San Angelo, TX; seven great grandchildren: Stacy Shipley, Taigen Shipley, Hunter Shipley, Remy Shipley, Jordan Shipley, Lina Shipley, Nevaeh Bradford and a sweet "honey bun" on the way.

She is preceded in death by her first husband: W.F. Shipley and second husband: A.J. Boyd; two daughters: Kathy Meeks and husband Jerry Wayne and Terrie Shipley; sister: JoLee Patterson; brother: Ed Patterson; parents: Charles and Stella Coburn and one son-in-law: Larry Bradford.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 13, 2015 at Family Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit, TX with Brother Dudley Mullins officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor and condolences may be sent to the family online at www.fs-fp.com.

Ronna Lee Barnes

Ronna Lee Barnes, age 73, of Jal, NM, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 18, 2015 in Odessa, TX. She was born on July 21, 1941 in Carlsbad, NM to John David and Lucy (McCollaum) Allen.

Ronna was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was a very creative person who enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and painting.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, any form of brain teaser games and especially enjoyed a nice competitive game of dominos or Mexican Train. Ronna was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jal Chapter 60 and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.   Her grandchildren called her MamMam and Nonna.

She is survived by her three daughters:  Derma McGann and husband Jim of Tri-Cities, WA,  Merna Brisbin of Oklahoma City, OK, and Lonna Bruskotter and husband David of Findlay, Ohio; one brother: John Dee Allen and wife Karen of Las Cruces, NM; nine grandchildren: Sarah, Phoebe, Marisha, Seth, Caleb, Haley, Payton, Reagan and Riley; and eight great-grandchildren with another on the way soon.

She is preceded in death by her parents John David and Lucy Allen.

Graveside Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am MST, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Jal Cemetery in Jal, NM with Brother Alan Speed officiating. 

The family is especially grateful for the love, care and medical assistance provided to Ronna by Stacey Lemmons who has been her friend as well as her care giver.

Refugio Yanez
Refugio “Junior” Gomez Yanez III

Refugio “Junior” Gomez Yanez III, age 33, of Odessa, TX, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 19, 2015.  He was born on August 2, 1981 in Andrews, TX to Refugio Yanez, Jr. and the late Maria (Vejil) Yanez.

Refugio was a Christian who loved God.  He truly loved taking long rides on his motorcycle and on horses.  He was a member of the Black Saints Motorcycle Club where he was known by the nickname  “Chingo Bling”.  He also enjoyed building motorcycles.   Refugio was a man of many names to his friends.  He was known as "Junior" and to his family  "Junito". Refugio had one son whom he adored.  He was a loving father who cherished his time with his son.  He will be missed dearly by everyone he knew. 

Refugio is survived by his father: Refugio Yanez Jr. of Monahans, TX; his grandmother: Jesusita Vejil of Kermit; his son: Mario David Yanez of Monahans; his brother: Jimmy Vejil Martinez; his sisters: Venetia Vejil, Lucia Vejil Martinez, Viviana Martinez, Angelique Escobar, Ashley Salazar, Wanda Ramirez, Laura Ramirez, and Amanda Villas; uncle:  Jessie Yanez; aunts:  Sylvia, Josie, and Jovie; and his girlfriend: Audrey Gonzalez and her children Xavier, Diego, and Julissa; and numerous cousins and extended family

He is preceded in death by his mother: Maria (Vejil) Yanez; his grandparents: Refugio Yanez Sr. and Merced Yanez; his grandfather: Jesus Vejil; and his cousin: David Aranda.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Eastside Church of Christ in Kermit, TX with Brother Joe Carrasco officiating.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.
