Pablo Lujan
Pablo Martinez Lujan

Pablo Martinez Lujan, age 87, passed from this life on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Winkler County Hospital, in Kermit, TX. He was born in Chihuahua, MX on June 7, 1926 to Ignacio and Lucia (Martinez) Lujan. Pablo was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, TX.

In his younger days Pablo enjoyed playing the guitar.  He loved walking, farming and being outside. He was a loving man with a big heart. Each and everyone one of us have a special cherished memory of him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife: Hermenegilda Lujan of Kermit, TX; two sons: Alvaro Lujan and wife Dora of Kermit, TX and Leo Lujan and wife Vicenta of Kermit, TX; five daughters: Herminia Uranga  and husband Pablo of Presidio, TX; Carlota Burrola and husband Lorenzo of Midland, TX; Alicia Garcia and husband Juan of Kermit, TX;  Elizama Tavarez and husband Arnaldo of Presidio, TX; and Nora Villa and husband Jesus of Midland, TX; three brothers: Juvencio Lujan of Kermit, TX; Marcelino Lujan and  Ceveriano Lujan of Presidio, TX; one sister: Librada Lujan of O.J. MX; twenty eight grandchildren; thirty nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandbaby on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ignacio and Lucia Lujan, one son: Jaime Lujan, five brothers: Alberto Lujan, Eristeo Lujan, Manuel Lujan, Raymundo Lujan and Placido Lujan and two sisters: Maria Lujan and Guadalupe Lujan.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Kermit, TX with Father Rudy Lacerna officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include:  Rodney Garcia, Ruben Lujan, Lorenzo Burrola, Jose Uranga, Orlando Tavarez and Gustavo Villa.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Reyes Bustamante

Reyes Bustamante, age 85, passed from this life on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at his residence in Wink, TX. He was born in Barstow, TX on December 1, 1928 to Hinejo and Paz (Rodriguez) Bustamante.  Reyes was a member of the Catholic Church.

Reyes was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and deer hunt, and to take his family camping. He was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan and a champion dancer. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife: Servanda (Sylvia) Bustamante of Wink, TX; one son; Ray Bustamante and wife Ann of Wink, TX; two brothers: Gregorio Bustamante of San Antonio, TX and Raymond Bustamante and wife Socorro of Midland, TX; five grandchildren: Trey Bustamante, Shawn Bustamante, Robert Bustamante, Michael Bustamante and Nikki Bustamante; and eight great-grand children: Ben, Desi, Maggie, Bradyn, Shawn, Dylan, Zoey and Nicholas.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Himeji and Paz Bustamante; son: Robert (Robbie) Bustamante; one daughter-in-law: Debbie Kay Bustamante; two brothers: Manuel Bustamante and Raphael Bustamante; two sisters: Maria Berdoza and Guadalupe Vasquez.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, MST, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at St. Claire Catholic Church in Eunice, NM with Father Ruben Romero officiating. Interment will follow at Brunson Memorial Cemetery in Eunice, NM.  Pallbearers will include: Trey Bustamante, Shawn Bustamante, Robert Bustamante, Michael Bustamante, Nikki Bustamante, Ben Bustamante and George Aldoedrez.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit, TX.

Antonio Garcia Manriquez

Antonio Garcia Manriquez , age 60, passed from this life on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Medical Center Hospital, in Odessa, TX. He was born in Chihuahua, MX on October 22, 1953 to Apolinar and Guadalupe (Manriquez) Garcia.

Antonio was known to be a quiet and simple man who enjoyed talking to his sisters over the phone, cruising, shopping and dancing.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son: Antonio Garcia Jr. and wife Gema of Denver City, TX; two daughters: Elvia Gallegos and husband Hector of Denver City, TX and Mirna Saldana and husband Armando of Denver City, TX; four brothers: Hector Garcia and wife Hortencia of Kermit, TX, Gilbert Garcia and wife Veronica of El Paso, TX, Jesus Garcia and wife Susana of Kermit, TX and Mario Garcia of Kermit, TX; six sisters: Velia Garcia of El Paso, TX, Emma Garcia of Chihuahua, MX, Elena Garcia of Chihuahua, MX, Celia Garcia of El Paso, TX, Blanca Palma and husband Javier of El Paso, TX and Barbara Alfaro and husband Romeo of El Paso, TX; nine grandchildren: Natalie, Melany, Lizette, Ivette, Alan, Aaron, Leslie, Armando and Daniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Apolinar and Guadalupe Garcia.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX with Blanca Polanco officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Gilbert Garcia, Hector Garcia, Jesus Garcia, Mario Garcia, Antonio Garcia Jr., Dustin Garcia and Hector Garcia Jr.

Carol Hamrick

Carol Hamrick, age 64, passed from this life and was reunited with her beloved husband Harry “Buzz” Leroy Hamrick on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in Kermit, TX. She was born in Gorman, TX on July 15, 1949 to Lawrence and Thelma LaFern (Thorpe) Russell. She graduated Kermit High School in 1968. 

Carol was an amazing woman. She will always be remembered for her kind and generous heart. She was also known to be stubborn at times. Carol loved to cook and her daughter Brittany said she made the “Best” Chicken and Dumplings. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother who will be truly be missed.  

Those left to cherish her memory include her son: Harry Leroy Hamrick Jr.; two daughters: Brittany and Xanna Hamrick of Kermit, TX; one brother: Glenn Russell and wife Mary Ann of Houston, TX; one sister: Janie Smart and husband Neal of Kermit, TX; one sister-in-law: Patsy Russell of Kermit, TX; and one granddaughter: Karla Broom of Kermit. 

She was preceded in death by her husband: Harry “Buzz” Leroy Hamrick; parents: Lawrence and Thelma Russell and one brother: Orval Russell. 

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Church of Christ in Kermit, TX with Brother Joe Carrasco officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Jimmy Maddox, Bill Riggs, Lawrence Russell II, Donald Russell, Pete Mercier and Casey Fuqua. Honorary Pallbearer: Tommy Naylor.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Santos Gomez Madrid

Santos Gomez Madrid, age 97, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, in Midland, TX. She was born in Presidio, TX on April 17, 1916 to Selvestre and Longina (Valenzuela) Gomez.  

Santos enjoyed a good cup of coffee and loved to cook, especially tortillas. 

She was preceded in death by her son: Luis Madrid and her parents. 

Mass of Funeral Burial will be 2:00 pm, Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Kermit, TX with Father Rudy Lacerna officiating. Interment will follow at Jal Cemetery, in Jal, NM.

Gregoria Madrid Navarrete

Gregoria Madrid Navarrete, age 67, passed from this life on Thursday, January 23, 2014 in Odessa, TX. She was born in Presidio, TX on May 25, 1946 to Gregorio and Angela (Madrid) Navarrete. She was a member of the Community Church in Kermit, TX.

Gregoria loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known as “Georgia” and always wore a cheerful smile. She made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed baking and worked for “Meals on Wheels” where she found great joy in spending time with her special friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son: Manuel N. Hernandez and wife Maria of Lubbock, TX; one daughter: Patricia Hernandez and husband Hugo of Kermit, TX; her step mother: Minerva Navarrete of Presidio, TX; one brother: Ismael (Mike) Navarrete and wife Alfie of Odessa, TX; one sister: Paula Valeriano of Odessa, TX; six grandchildren: Brandie, Brandon, Benjamin, Angela, Manuel IV and Matthew; and fourteen great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter; her parents: Gregorio and Angela Navarrete and one sister: Dominga Vaca.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, January 27, 2014 at Community Church in Kermit, TX with Brother Mike Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include: Brandon Coronado, Benjamin Coronado, Manuel Hernandez IV, Matthew Hernandez, Daniel Juarez and Anthony Lopez. Honorary Pallbearers will be:  Daniel Juarez Jr., Nathaniel Santos, Nicholas Coronado, Hugo Coronado and Xaiden Coronado.

Israel Salazar Aranda

Israel Salazar Aranda, age 66, passed from this life on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Mexico. He was born in Mulato, MX on January 5, 1948 to Eugenio and Calixta Aranda.  

Israel enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He will be greatly missed.  

He is survived by his son: Israel Aranda Jr. of Odessa, TX; four daughters: Ysenia Lujan and husband Oswald of Kermit, TX, Sonia Salais of Odessa, TX, Monica Lopez of Odessa, TX, and Laura Aranda of Midland, TX; two brothers: Belen Aranda of Andrews, TX and  Florentino Aranda of Kermit, TX;  five sisters:  Esiquia Ortiz of Kermit, TX, Socorro Lujan and husband Crispin of Andrews, TX, Lidia Saenz of Kermit, TX, Manuela Saenz and husband Enrique of Eunice, NM, Rosa Acosta and husband Abelardo of Kermit, TX; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents: Eugenio and Calixta Aranda and his brother: Edmundo Aranda. 

A Prayer Service will be held 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Family Services Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Iglesia de Fuentes de Agua Viva officiated by Blanca Polanco. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery. Pallbearers will include: Yune Aranda, Tino Aranda Jr., Oscar Acosta, Leonardo Saenz, Chago Ortiz, Queno Aranda, Ruben Aranda, Israel Saenz. Honorary Pallbearer will be Israel “Rey” Aranda Jr.

K Robertson
Kenneth Eugene Robertson

Kenneth Eugene Robertson, age 64, passed from this life on Monday, January 27, 2014 at University Medical Center, in Lubbock, TX. He was born in Herrin, IL on February 17, 1949, to Howard and Francis (Mosley) Robertson.

Kenneth was a devoted single father and loving grandfather.   He enjoyed fixing up campers and keeping his yard looking nice.  Often he got angry at the kiddos who pulled up in his yard messing up his hard work.  He also was known for his good memory.

Those left to cherish his memory include his three sons: Kenneth “Rock” Robertson, Chris Robertson, and Shane Robertson and wife Julie, all of Wink, TX; one brother:  James “Uncle Bo” Robertson of Illinois; one sister:  Barbara Grider of Florida; three grandchildren:  Zaudrick Robertson, Archer Robertson, Ember Robertson, and Layne Robertson (who is on the way).

He was preceded in death by his parents:  Howard and Francis Robertson; two brothers:  Cliffton Robertson and Richard Robertson; and three sisters:  Shirley Harris, Patricia Robertson, and Mary Adams.

There will be a Benefit at Poppy’s Place on Friday, January 31, 2014 hosted by Karen Schubert.  Any donations for an auction or cash can be dropped off at Poppy’s Place.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit, TX.

Mildred Pilkington Brooks

Armilda Delaphine "Mildred" (Jackson) Brooks, age 82, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in Wichita Falls, TX. She was born in Salem, AR on June 10, 1931 to Thorman and Cynthia (Pate) Jackson.  

Mildred was a great mom who loved working in the yard and was a perfectionist when it came to her cars. She cherished her beloved pets, “Fat Man”, “Little Bit” and “Kitty Cat”.  She was a collector of clocks, knick-knacks and jewelry. She had a great sense of humor and was loved by all. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her son: Pete Pilkington and wife Cissy of Kermit, TX; three daughters: Judy Compton and husband Roy of Wolfforth, TX, Kay Fletcher of Mineral Wells, TX and Kim Pilkington of Houston, TX; one step-daughter: Susan Simpson of Houston, TX and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband: Jodie Brooks; son: Buck Pilkington; daughter: Carolyn Barron; two brothers: Bub Jackson and Tom Jackson; one sister: Maudie Romine; one granddaughter: Tammy Barron and her parents: Thorman and Cynthia Jackson. 

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 31, 2014 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX with Glenda Mixon officiating. Interment was at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers included: Kody Shropshire, Michael Shropshire, John Shropshire, Jonny Riley, Jason Haynes and Ashton Haynes.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor. 

M Johnson
Matt Johnson

Matthew "Matt" Worth Johnson, age 55, rode off into the sunset to meet his heavenly father on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the family residence in Wink. He was born on March 11, 1958 in Dalhart, Texas. He was the son of Gary Worth Johnson and Billie Jean (Hudspeth) Johnson. 

Matt was a smart, loving, kind-hearted man. A cowboy through and through, he was a world-class roper and loved a good horse and rope. Matt was an entrepreneur who could accomplish any task he set out to do. He had a contagious laugh and loved to cook. He had many, many friends who thought the world of him. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his father:  Gary Johnson of San Antonio, NM; wife: Esther Sainz of Truth or Consequences, NM; three daughters: Layna Ludvigson and husband Adam of Morenci, AZ, Savannah Johnson of Lubbock, TX and Connie Meyers and husband Mike of Prosper, TX; one son: Levi Sainz of Albuquerque, NM; one brother: Mike Driver and wife Molly of Albuquerque, NM; one sister: Jeanna Johnson of San Antonio, NM; and five grandchildren: Tayevian Matthew Johnson, Londyn Johnson, Kasen Ludvigson, Kade Ludvigson and Gavin Myers. 

He was reunited in heaven with his mother: Billie Jean (Hudspeth) Johnson.  

A Memorial Service to honor Matt’s life is scheduled for 4:00 pm, Monday, February 3, 2014 at Wink High School Auditorium in Wink, TX with Brother Richard Ray officiating.

Encarnacion Padilla

Encarnacion Padilla, of Kermit, age 85, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at his residence, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on December 8, 1928 in Cuchillo Parado, MX to Fidel Padilla and Bernave (Rico) Padilla. He was Catholic.

Encarnacion was a wonderful, loving man who cherished his family. He married his beloved wife, Elvira (Arevalo) Padilla on March 8, 1947 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, MX and they spent 49 years together until her passing in 1996. He loved spending time playing with the grandchildren, eating out,  and enjoyed singing and dancing. His special nickname from everyone was “Chon”. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include one son: Jesus Manuel Padilla and wife Socorro of Ojinaga, MX; six daughters: Fidela Sotelo of Pecos, TX, Rosa Castillo and husband Arturo, Maria Luisa Muniz and husband Manuel, Maricela Castillo and husband Martin, all of Kermit, TX, Concha Morales and husband Alberto of Odessa, TX and Leticia Padilla, also of Kermit, TX; one brother: Jose Padilla and wife Maria of Ojinaga, MX; two sisters: Elvira Carrasco and Romelia Hernandez, both of Presidio, TX; twenty-four grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Elvira Padilla; parents: Fidel and Bernave Padilla and five brothers: Alfredo, Augustine, Ramon, Geronimo and Amador.

A Rosary will be said at 7:00 pm, Friday, February 7, 2014 at Family Services Funeral Parlor. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Rudy Lacerna officiating. Pallbearers include: Martin Castillo Jr., Michael Morales, Sammy Muniz, Gilbert Sotelo, Ruben Hernandez, Junior Muniz and Franki Muniz. Honorary Pallbearers include: David Padilla, Michelle Padilla and Maritza Castillo. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

C Norwood
Clarice Valentine Norwood

On February 10, 2014, in Andrews Texas, Clarice Valentine Westfall Norwood, of Jal, New Mexico, got to go to Heaven where the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Bobby Gale was waiting for her. 

Clarice was born February 14, 1929 in Eastland Texas to Charles Reed and Effie Mae Phillips Westfall.  She was the fourth of six children and grew up in Morton Valley, Texas.  The family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico after her graduation from Eastland High School.

Clarice went to Ranger Junior College in Ranger, Texas and was Homecoming Queen.  There she met her handsome football player, Bobby G. Norwood and they were married in Ranger on August 14, 1949. 

Bobby G. went to work for El Paso Natural Gas Company and Clarice was a typical El Paso wife, moving frequently with pipeline construction until Bobby went into the Instrument Department.  They lived at Midkiff, Texas for 10 years before moving to Jal in January of 1964 where they lived until their deaths.

Clarice loved Arts and Crafts of nearly any kind, including weaving and crocheting.  She and their son, Brian, had an arts and crafts shop called The Handicrafter in Jal where they sold arts and crafts supplies and did custom framing. 

Besides her husband, Bobby, who preceded her in death in June of 2013, she was preceded by her parents: Charles and Effie Westfall; two brothers:  Leone Westfall and Earl Westfall; and one sister:  Mintie DeWees. 

She is survived by two sons:  Reed Norwood and wife Becky of Cookeville, TN, and Brian Norwood and wife Karen of Jal, NM; one brother: Michael Westfall of Abilene, TX; one sister: Charlene Funk and husband Harold of Hobbs, NM; five grandchildren:  Sarah Norwood-Brown and husband Jeramie, Bobby Norwood, Janette Norwood-Phillips and husband Jacob, Preston Stevens, Debi Romero and husband Joe; two great-grandchildren: Gracie Brown and Alex Romero; and many special nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Community Church in Kermit with Pastor Mike Walker officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm MST at the Jal Cemetery in Jal, NM.  Funeral Services are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.
