B Hanson

Beverly Jean Hanson, age 65, of Mentone, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 in Odessa, TX. She was born March 30, 1947, in Pecos, TX to Thornton and Wanema (Williams) Hopper.

Beverly loved people! She never met a stranger and would stop and talk to anyone who would strike up a conversation with her. While working for approximately 18 years at the court house as the county clerk, many times, Beverly found herself engaged in lively conversations of the current events; as well as personal events that were taking place in the lives of the people of Mentone.  She was a great storyteller. Her stories were always enjoyable and very eventful. Many of them would be hard to believe if you didn’t know they were true. She was a avid shopper! She never left an aisle untraveled for fear of missing a bargain she couldn’t live without. Her newest love and admiration was for her great nephew, Jax. She always wanted an update on him. What new things was he learning and doing and when he will be back in town to visit? She loved him dearly and couldn’t wait to spoil him. She was looking forward to some new adventures in her life, when she came up against the battle of her life. She beat breast cancer and lived with diabetes for years. This final battle was beyond what her body could overcome. She fought a courageous battle to the end. We love and miss her beyond words, but know she is healed and watching over her friends and family from heaven.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her brother: Harlan Hopper of Mentone, TX; one sister: Becky Hill and husband Larry of Kermit, TX; two nephews: Derek Hill and wife Crystal and Lance Hill; one niece: Shatana Groomer; one great nephew: Jax Hill; one uncle: Bill Hopper and one aunt: Wadonna Groomer and husband Harold.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Thornton and Wanema Hopper.
