Leroy Weldon Leard

Leroy Weldon Leard, age 83, passed away Wednesday, January 04, 2012 in Kermit, TX. He was born October 11, 1928 in Dunn, TX; to Clifford and Anne (Smallwood) Leard.

Leroy was a retired Firefighter with 20+ years of service.  He played fast pitch softball for the Army and coached and umpired little league (20+ years). He loved the game of baseball and playing dominoes. 

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son: Weldon Leard of Brownwood, TX; one daughter: Sabrina Kingston and husband Mike of Early, TX; one sister: Mildred Johnson of Snyder, TX; five grandchildren: Joshua Leard, Melody Hollums and husband Jerry, Jacob Leard, Christy Barnett and husband Chad and Heather Sweaney and husband Richard and four great-grandchildren: Mercedes Leard, Brogan Barnett, Harrison and Hadley Sweaney.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Juanita Leard, parents: Clifford and Anne Leard, and two sisters: Maurine DeVaney and Mavis Kirkland

Services will be 10:00 am Monday, January 9, 2012 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX with Brother Chad Barnett officiating. Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Wilson, Lloyd Hill, Teddy Baremore, Joey Green, Larry Hill, Jerry Hollums.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Leon Nutt, W.R. Caviness and the Kermit Volunteer Fire Dept.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX.

Don Weldon Snyder

Don Weldon Snyder, age 77, of Kermit passed away Monday, January 09, 2012 in Kermit, TX. He was born June 19, 1934 Nolan County, TX to Joseph and Ruby (Wright) Snyder.

Don was a hard working man, he retired from El Paso Natural Gas after 34 years of service.  He was a lifetime member of the NRA and the American Trap Association.  He was devoted to teaching young people the game of baseball and was recognize after 19 years of coaching by the Little League and Pony League.   Don had a love of shooting sports and promoted Trap Shooting for adults and young people for many years including working with the 4-H.  Don was a Christian.  He was baptized in the First Baptist Church in Roscoe, TX and currently was a member of Belvue Baptist Church in Kermit.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years: Mary Snyder of Kermit, TX; two sons :  Dal Snyder and wife Linda of Crane, TX and Terry Snyder of Wink, TX; one daughter: Vickilyn Galle and husband Danny of Jal, NM; eleven grandchildren:  Shanna Ortalejo and husband Jose, Jeri Evans and husband Edward, Denice Kaptain and husband Troy, Scott Snyder, Brandon Snyder, Wade Snyder, Cassandra Snyder, Sheena Snyder and fiancÚ Justin Burks, Randi Smith and husband Ky, Lyndi Shackelford and Kati Shackerlford; five great-grandchildren and two nieces:  Gina Tiano and April Trimmer

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Joe Lynn Snyder.

A Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX with Brother Ryan Dennis officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be: John Bermea, Joe Chance, Billy Hefner; W.R. Caviness and Teddy Baremore.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Carolyn Ruth Langston

Carolyn Ruth Langston, age 70, of Kermit passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 in Odessa, TX. She was born April 22, 1941, in Vernon, TX to Benjamin Franklin and Vera Edna (Potts) Hobson.  She married Ramon Langston in 1958 and they shared 45 years together until his death in 2003.

Carolyn was a fun loving person.  She enjoyed playing Bingo and many other games. She was filled with a spirit of adventure and traveled from coast to coast, enjoying the outdoors and the sites.  She held a special place in her heart for a cat named Boo. Nana, as the grandchildren called her, had a vast collection of chickens arrayed around the house.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son: Rayburn Langston and wife Michelle of Ulysses, KS; two daughters :  Teresa Rupke and husband Ken of Elkhart, KS and Neena Williams and husband Steve of Kermit; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ramon Langston; parents; Benjamin and Vera Hobson; one brother:  Gerald Hobson; one sister: Lee Lemons; and one grandchild: K.C. Rupke.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit with Pastor Charles Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be: Trenton Langston, Jacob Rupke, Monty Ingram,  Rance Ingram, Michael Langston and Levi Thompson.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Braden Langston and Justin Cue. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Michael “Mike” Cubine

Michael “Mike” Cubine, age 57, of Kermit passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 in Kermit. He was born February 12, 1954, in Graham, TX to the late John and Dorothy (Carter) Cubine.  Mike was a fun loving person.  If it had a motor, Mike wanted to either watch it race or race it himself.  He would rather take a picture of a hot-rod than pose for a picture himself.  Frequently, Mike could be found playing at the Sand Hills in a dune buggy he built.  He had a true love for the outdoors and enjoyed golfing and was known to be quite the chef around a BBQ grill.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son: Clay Cubine and wife Nikki of Odessa; daughter:  Quimby Cubine of Odessa; two brothers: Steve Wisniewski and wife Rene of Phoenix, AZ and Sam Cubine and wife Kathy of San Angelo; sister: Kathy Cubine of Odessa; nieces and nephews: Chad Wisniewski and wife Melinda, Deidre Dunham, Garrett Bell and Kymberli Bell; and two great-nephews: Johnny Rocket Cubine and Cayden Wisniewski.  He is also survived by his special friend and companion: Evelyn Lockwood of Kermit and her family Larry, Mandy and Tyler.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit with Brother Bill Campbell officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Raymond Blair; Budda Barta, Robert Galindo, Bobby Dunham, Larry Lockwood, Lane Wilson, Jerry Wright, and all of his other friends he left behind.  A private burial will follow at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Dorothy Clark

Dorothy Clark, age 83, of Kermit passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Odessa, TX. She was born July 7, 1928 in Moran, TX to Winfield and Zell (Martin) Dennis.

Dorothy was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary for 40 plus years. She enjoyed yard work, bingo, gardening and her turtle ranch. She had a great sense of humor and loved being a grandmother.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her three sons: Thomas Clark of Big Springs, TX, Davy Clark of Kermit, and Toby Clark and wife Sylvia of Odessa; one daughter: Saundra Bowerman and husband Vernon of Kermit; one brother: Joel Dennis and wife Ester of Alamogordo, NM; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Clark, parents: Winfield and Zell Dennis, son: Johnny Lee Clark, two brothers: Johnny and Joe, and three sisters:  Louise, Faye and Sue.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 20, 2012 at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit with Brother Larry Wooldridge officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be her Grandsons and Great-Grandsons.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Sheila Annette Hamilton

Sheila Annette Hamilton, age 54, of Kermit passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Kermit, TX. She was born May 2, 1957 in St. Louis, MO to Denver Lee and Eunice Willodene (Hardy) Reese.

Sheila loved singing gospel music with the “Glory Road” band. She loved spoiling her grandbabies and was known as “MeMaw” to her grandkids, “Sistor” to her sister and “She-Ann” to her husband. She liked to collect jewelry, angels, bears, crosses, butterflies, shoes and purses.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband: John Hamilton of Kermit; two sons: Jason Bristow of Kermit and Matthew Hamilton and wife Amanda of Monahans, TX; one daughter: Angela Litchford and husband Charles of Kermit; her mother: Eunice Reese of Kermit; one sister: Machelle Fischer and husband Robert of Kermit; and five grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Makenzie, Johnny, Harlianne and Andrew.

She was preceded in death by her father: Denver Lee Reese.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Friday, January 20, 2012 at Northside Baptist Church in Kermit with Brother Steve Long officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Glory Road Band. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Gary John Ward

Gary John Ward, age 66, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in Odessa, TX. He was born April 1, 1945 in Monahans, TX to Harold R. and Irma K. (Johnson) Ward. Gary was married to Cheryl Thomason on October 24, 1969 in Monahans, TX. They cherished 34 years of marriage until her death in 2005.

Thanks to his good friend and brother-in-law, Gary Thomason, Gary earned the nick name “Chubbs”. Many of his friends, relatives and co-workers called him by that name. He was a member of the N.R.A. and enjoyed bowling, fishing and barbequing. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Jacquline Upton and husband Ben of Odessa, TX and Leslyn Kelso and husband Greg Moon of Andrews, TX; sister: Judith Ann Ward of Alameda, CA and five grandchildren: Ashley, Jeremy, Megan, Emily and Elizabeth; and two great-grandchildren: Addyson and Avery. Gary is also survived by a host of relatives and friends scattered throughout the county.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Cheryl Ward and his parents: Harold and Irma Ward.

A Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 27, 2012 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit with Brother Ted Short officiating. Pallbearers will be Van Grady, Jeremy Weathermon, John David, Ben Upton, David Thomason and Greg Moon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Thomason and Bill Bomar.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Clarence Preston Campbell 

Clarence Preston Campbell, age 80, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 in Kermit, TX. He was born July 14, 1931 in Springdale, Ark. to Preston and Beatrice Campbell.  He married his love, Dorothy, on March 16, 1945 and they spent 65 years together until her death on Sept 23, 2011.

Clarence was a hard working man who spent many years working for California Water.  He enjoyed working with his hands and created everything from birdbaths to dog houses.  He was a guitar player and a handy man who fixed cars.  Clarence was called “Hosten” by his wife Dorothy but that meant he was about to get into some kind of trouble.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his three sons: Clarence Campbell and wife Dianna of Bakersfield, CA; Darrell Campbell of Stoughton, WI and Nathan Campbell of Bakersfield, CA; one daughter: Linda Campbell of Bakersfield, CA; seven grandchildren: Kenny, Kevin, Kelly, Joshua, Emily, Alyssa and Amber; and one great-grandchild: Lia and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy and his parents:  Preston and Beatrice.

Services will be 2:30 pm Friday, February 3, 2012 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, officiated by Brother Dudley Mullins.  Pallbearers will be: Casey Collum, Curtis Collum, Mathew Fischer and Chris Fischer. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Nathan Campbell, Clarence Campbell, Kenny Campbell, Kevin Campbell and Joshua Campbell. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.

Julian Angel Lopez

Julian Angel Lopez, age 47, of Kermit passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in Kermit, TX. He was born March 21, 1964 in Kermit, to Robert Martinez and Lucia (Bustamante) Lopez.

Julian loved playing the guitar, listening to music, dancing and reading his Bible. He enjoyed sports and was a diehard “Cowboys” fan.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his mother: Lucia Bustamante of Hobbs, NM; two sons: Justin Angel Lopez of Sacramento, CA and Brendan Charles Lopez of West Sacramento, CA; and one brother: Arturo Bustamante of West Sacramento, CA; and long time companion Arlene “Erlinda” White.

He was preceded in death by his father: Robert Lopez, one brother: Daniel Lee Bustamante, and two sisters: Sonia Maria Lopez and Reiza Ann Rodriguez.

A Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Monday, February 6, 2012 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX with a family member officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Danny King Jr., Joe Salazar, Juan Bourn, Juan Soliz, Cameron Soliz, Daniel Cantu, Esteban Cantu and Alex Teran.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Isaac Martinez Ramirez

Isaac Martinez Ramirez, age 86, of Andrews, Texas passed from this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2012. He was born December 14, 1925 to Juan and Sabina (Martinez) Ramirez in Sanderson, Texas.  He married Grace Hernandez on June 15, 1948 and they celebrated 59 years together until her death in 2007.

Isaac was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews, TX. Isaac was a true cowboy at heart and loved dancing, playing dominoes, walking, going to flea markets and meeting people. He had a special pet dog named Maggie.

He leaves behind his three sons: Luis Ramirez of Dallas, Johnny Ramirez of Dallas and Leonard Ramirez of Andrews; six daughters: Linda Ramirez of San Antonio, Letty Coomer and husband Rodney of Andrews, Lucy Galindo of Andrews, Lily Norton and husband Brad of Gardendale, Linette Ramirez of White Settlement, and Lora Gonzalez of Valley View; three brothers: Juan Ramirez Jr. and wife Angie of El Paso, Manuel Lopez of Kermit, and Raul Lara and wife Hilda of Kermit; one sister: Lydia Young  of Bronte; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife Grace Ramirez and his parents: Juan and Sabina Ramirez.

Visitation and Rosary will be at the family’s home located at 1002 South West 7th Street, Andrews, TX 79714. Rosary will be said 7 pm Friday, February 10, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. Pallbearers will be his son Leonard Ramirez and his grandsons: Raul Rodriquez Jr., Raul Reyes Jr., Kyle Coomer, Jared Galindo, and Zachary Ramirez.  Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Brandon, Nicholas, Isaiah, Garrett, Hector, Caine, Xavier, Chaco, Giggle, Chance, Cole, and Mark. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX.

Alice K. Sanders

Alice K. Sanders, age 64, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 in Odessa, TX. She was born May 09, 1947 in Oceanside, CA to Walter B. and Annabell (Whitney) Boen.

Alice was a member of the Church of God in Kermit and liked going on church retreats.  She enjoyed talking on the phone and keeping up with the family.  She loved being a grandma, and was known as “Granny Alice” to her grandkids.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are two sons: Oliver Williamson Jr. and wife Glenda of Stephenville, TX and Walter Williamson and wife Donna of Dublin, TX; two daughters: Patricia Newingham and boyfriend Melvin Hopkins Jr. of Sweetwater, TX and Annie Nelson and husband Charlie of San Angelo, TX; two brothers: Fredrick Boen and Howard Boen, both of Kermit; one sister: Clarabell Williamson of Sweetwater; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her special friends: Glenda and Debbie, and numerous other beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas M. Sanders; parents: Walter B. and Annabell Boen; one brother: G.W. Boen; and granddaughter: Heather Williamson

Services will be 9:00 am Monday, February 13, 2012 at Family Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit with Brother Eddie Whitefield officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 pm Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater, TX with Brother Charlie Nelson officiating.  Pallbearers will include: Patrica  Newingham, Junior Fraiser, Brittany Williamson, Dewey Matthews, Tim Matthews, Dustin Williamson, Johnny Williamson, Wayne Holstine.  Honorary Pallbearers will be:  Bobby Ellis, Walter Williamson, Oliver Williamson Jr., and Ernest Casteel.
