Manuel H. Perez

Manuel H. Perez, age 86, of Kermit, Texas passed from this life peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2011, in Ward County. He was born June 09, 1924 to Manuel and Maxima Hernandez Perez in Grandfalls, Texas. He was a retiree from the Kermit Independent School District and a master plumper by trade. He was a dedicated proud father and devoted full time loving grandfather. He had enormous love for his sons and family and cherished his friends for life. His outgoing positive spirit that touched many through the years will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rita V. Perez, and sons: Ricardo “Riche” Perez, Raul “Weaver” and Roberto “Beto” Perez.

He leaves behind his sons: Rodolfo “Rudy” Perez and wife Margarita of Barstow, TX, Manuel “Blanco” Perez and wife Rosa of Breckinridge, TX, Reynaldo “Rey” Perez and wife Michelle of Kermit, TX and Rene V. Perez and wife Danita of Kermit, TX; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be said 7:00 pm Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX. A Prayer service will be 11:00 am Monday, February 14, 2011 at Family Services Funeral Chapel officiated by Brother Eddie Whitefield, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, officiated by Father Waiwood.  Pallbearers will be Eric Perez, Rickey Perez, Bobby Perez, Lupe Perez, Lorenzo Perez, Manuel V. Perez IV and Cody Perez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sylvia Garcia, Vicky Perez, Tammy Perez, Priscilla Medina, Hollie Perez, Rebecca Kingston, Jennifer Kiser and Amy Zipfel. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Barrett Whitefield, Compass Hospice, Monahans Managed Care Center, Rural Home Health and all the homecare aides.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that contributions in Manuel’s honor be directed to Gifts of Hope, Inc. P.O. Box 1323, Midland, TX 79702, (432) 687-1949 or to one’s favorite charity.

Simona Chavarria Jimenez

Simona Chavarria Jimenez, age 84, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 in Kermit, TX. She was born October 28, 1926 in Terlingua, TX to Domingo and Agripina (Gonzalez) Chavarria.

Simona was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and sang in the church choir. She loved going to the lake with her family and dancing.  She served at the hospital for several years as a Pink Lady.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband: Merced Jimenez of Kermit; two sons: Wally Jimenez of San Diego, CA and Ruben Jimenez and wife Diane of San Antonio, TX; one sister: Mary Gomez of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Domingo and Agripina Chavarria; one brother: Eladio; three sisters: Dominga, Juliana, and Pina; and one grandson.

Rosary will be said 7:00 pm Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 pm Thursday, February 17, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, with Father Richard Waiwood officiating.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit.

Kathryn Jean Putnam

Kathryn Jean Putnam, age 57, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 in Odessa, TX. She was born Wednesday, October 14, 1953 in Clifton, TX to Richard and Leila (Rushing) Wallace.

Kathryn was a beautician and loved bowling, dancing and rodeos. She was president of Loving County Water District for eight years and served as Postmaster for ten years in Mentone, TX.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband: Richard Putnam of Mentone; father: Richard Wallace of MO; step-father: Don Creager of Kermit; one daughter: Sheila Bradley of Kermit; one sister: Regena Ann Derrick and husband Charles of Mentone; and five grandchildren: Myra Lisa Garcia, Jacob Garcia, Angel Rodriguez, Shayla Harden and Malik Harden.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Leila Wallace; one brother: George Wills; and one daughter: Teresa Bradley.

Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Belvue Baptist Church in Kermit, officiated by Brother Bill Campbell. Pallbearers will be Tom Jones, Allen Sparks, Charlie Oats, Cody Garrett, Pat Gray and Alan Haley.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX.

Lusama Figueroa “Sue” Saenz

Lusama Figueroa “Sue” Saenz, age 64, of Kermit, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Winkler County Memorial Hospital.  She was born on December 21, 1946 in Pecos, TX to Ramon and Genoveva (Muņiz) Figueroa.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church.

Sue was a lively person, who was a bit of a prankster.  She was a very giving, caring person, who was devoted to her family.  Everyone loved her cooking!  She loved the Pecos River.  She enjoyed the outdoors and spent time working in her garden.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  Sue loved her children and grandchildren very much.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother:  Genoveva Figueroa of Odessa; best friend:  Raul C. Marquez of Kermit; son:  Raul F. Marquez and wife Leslie of Kermit; three daughters:  Victoria Bolster of Kermit and her husband Anthony Bolster of Eunice, NM, Amy Marquez of Kermit, and Rosanna Marquez and husband Julian of Jewett, TX; two sisters:  Ramona Lujan and husband Demetrio of Kermit and Ermelinda Del Rio and husband Ruben of Odessa; and eleven grandchildren:  Jasmine, Evette, Emiliana, Jesus, Jose, Isael, Juan, Damian, Vicente Jr., Valeria, and Baltazar.

She is preceded in death by her father:  Ramon Figueroa; daughter:  Heather Marquez; maternal grandparents:  Faustino and Maria Muņiz; and paternal grandparents:  Manuel and Perfecta Figueroa.

Rosary will be said 7:00 pm Monday, February 21, and Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Family Services Funeral Parlor.  Funeral mass will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Pallbearers will include Raul C. Marquez, Raul F. Marquez, Demetrio Lujan, Anthony Bolster, Ruben Del Rio, Julian Marquez, Juan Tarango Sr., and Juan Tarango, Jr.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.
Ruby Mariam Weizenecker

Ruby Mariam Weizenecker, age 80, passed away Thursday, March 03, 2011 in Odessa, TX. She was born November 13, 1930 in Alliance, OH to George and Martha (Irwin) Moulin.

Ruby was very good at crocheting afghans and growing flowers. She had a deep love for teaching the Bible.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband: Pastor James Weizenecker of Kermit; four daughters: Rufena Gressett of Monahans, TX, Rene Fuson of Sebring, OH, Ronda Zinn and husband Jim of North Denton, OH and Roene Burris and husband Robert of Homeworth, OH; one brother: Douglas Moschgat and wife Patricia of Laurens, SC; one sister: Rachel Daily and husband Raymond of Fraseysburg, OH; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Martha Moulin.

Memorial services will be 10:00 am Monday, March 07, 2011 at Belvue Baptist Church in Kermit, officiated by Pastor Larry Bennett. Honorary pallbearers are: Dub King, Mitchell Sims, Jerry Purcell, James burns, Gayle Reeves and Steve Dunn.

Lupe C. Alvarez

Lupe C. Alvarez, 76, passed from this life on Friday, March 04, 2011 at her Odessa home.  She was born in Eldorado, TX on September 25, 1934 to the late Pablo and Maria (Robledo) Cardona.  She married Jose Alvarez in Cuidad Acuņa, Mexico.  They had six children together and were happily married until separated by his death in 2007.   She was a homemaker, beloved mother and grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons:  Roy Villareal and wife Gloria of Edna, TX and John Alvarez and wife Michelle of Odessa; daughters:  Patsy Ferguson and husband Gary of Kermit and Janie Nuņez and husband Miguel of Odessa; sister:  Gloria Cardona of Florida; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one son:  Manuel Alvarez; one toddler daughter:  Maria Alvarez; two brothers:  Jose and Jesus Cardona; and two sisters:  Lydia and Eva.

Rosary will be said 7:00 pm Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit.  Funeral services will be Monday, March 7, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Family Services Funeral Chapel, officiated by Fr. Richard Waiwood.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Chapel.

Elda Guardiola Quiroz

Elda Guardiola Quiroz, age 52, of Kermit, passed from this life on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.  She was born in Ojinaga, Mexico on July 13, 1958 to Martin and Concepcion Rios Guardiola.  She and Sergio Quiroz, her beloved husband, married January 24, 1974 in Kermit.  She was a homemaker; a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband:  Sergio Quiroz of Kermit; sons:  Aron Quiroz and wife Erica and Octavio Quiroz, all of Kermit; daughters:  Deyanira Quiroz of Dallas and Yadhira Quiroz and husband Maurillo Olivas of Kermit, and Roxie Velasquez of Odessa; her father:  Martin Guardiola, Sr. of Kermit; three brothers:  Eddie Guardiola and Martin Guardiola, Jr. both of Odessa and Antonio Guardiola of Ojinaga; sisters:  Maria Hernandez and Arcelia Vasquez, both of Kermit; and thirteen grandchildren.

Those who welcome her on her Heavenly journey are her mother:  Concepcion Guardiola; her grandparents:  Sara and Antonio Rios and Pedro and Condrada Guardiola; son:  Dimas Quiroz; and three grandchildren:  Ariel Montoya, Sianna Montoya, and Dariana Olivas.

Rosary will be said 7:00 pm Monday, March 7, 2011 at Family Services Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated by Father Richard Waiwood.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor. 

Presentation “Christine” Liges

Presentation “Christine” Liges, age 84, of Jal, NM, passed from this life on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.  She was born in Lorenzo, TX on November 21, 1926 to Demetrio and Maria (Ontiveras) Espinosa. 

Christine loved to go to garage sales, plant flowers and tend to her garden. She also loved to spend time with her friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are three sons: Fidel Liges and wife Annie of Milliken, CO, Joe Larry Liges of Sydney, NB and Ezquial Liges of Jal, NM;  three daughters: Angie Liges of Jal, NM; Rose Mary Liges of Milwalkie, WY and Lisa Liges; one brother: Frank Espinisa of Rosewell, NM; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; Lydia Cervantes; one brother: John Espinosa and two sisters: Gabriella and Concha.

Rosary will be said 7:00 pm MST, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Jal, NM.  Funeral Mass will be 2:00 pm MST Friday, March 11, 2011 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, in Jal, NM, officiated by Father Rogelio Martinez.  Interment will follow at Jal Cemetery, in Jal, NM.

Thank you, to everyone who expressed their love and concern during this time. We appreciate all the food, flowers, visits, telephone calls, cards, kind words, and extra efforts put forth by friends and family. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rosie and Danny Emerson and Margret and Trini Valeriano for everything they have done. We are very grateful.

Donald Beasley Bullard

Donald Beasley Bullard, age 75, passed from this life on March 14, 2011. He was born on May 16, 1935 in Wink, TX to Thelmer and Eunice Mildred (Kirby) Bullard.

Donald enjoyed taking his grandkids fishing, collecting guns, caring for his pitbulls and restoring old cars especially his “Model A”. He was known for his great sense of humor. Donald was a member of the VFW.

He leaves behind his son: Daniel Brian Bullard of Wickett, TX; two daughters: Diana Green and husband Chuck of Snyder, TX and Delisa Springer of Wickett; seven grandchildren: Dustin Bullard, Brianna Bullard, Jessica Avalos, Jason Green, Elijah Springer, Brittany Springer and Jami Islas; nine great-grandchildren: Jeana Avalos, Kynzie Avalos, Adrian Avalos, Chelsey Green, Audrina Springer, Brayden Springer, Maya Islas, Bella Islas and Socrates Islas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Weldon Maurice Bullard; and lifetime partner: Anita Swaney.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, March 18, 2011 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, officiated by Jessica Avalos. Pallbearers will be Jason Green, Eli Springer, Mike Wheeler, Drew Helmers, Tim Chadman, Jimmy Harris and Frankie Bonham. Honorary pallbearers will be John Neill and Chuck Green.

Lois Lenora Purcell

Lois Lenora Purcell, age 85, passed from this life on Friday, March 18, 2011 at her home in Kermit, TX.  She was born in Cross Plains, TX on February 8, 1926 to Elijah Aaron Tate and Dora Belle (Nunn) Tate.  She married Vernon Franklin Purcell on May 16, 1941 in Brownwood, TX.  They were happily married for over 67 years before separated by his death in 2008. She was a longtime (45 year) member of Grace Temple Baptist Church. Mrs. Purcell was also an Avon representative, having served her customers for 35 years. 

In addition to her career as an Avon representative, Lois was a homemaker.  She loved to cook and quilt for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed teaching them to carry on these family traditions. She loved the Lord and His church and encouraged everyone to follow Him and His teachings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: three sons - Eddie F. Purcell and wife Marla of Roswell, NM, Jerry D. Purcell and wife Julie of Kermit, TX, Larry D. Purcell and wife Ruth Ann of Snyder, TX; and two daughters - Elaine Parks and husband Phil of Kermit, TX and Glenda Warren and husband Eddie of Gardendale, TX.  She also leaves a legacy of twelve grandchildren:  De Etta Beasley, Justin Purcell, Cory Purcell, Coby Purcell, Bradly Purcell, Shawn Miller, Darcee Jones, Mike Parks, Marc Parks, Marci Schwartz, Leslie Barnard, and Callie Warren; twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Purcell is preceded in death by her parents:  Elijah and Dora Tate; her husband:  Frank Purcell; one brother:  Lilburn Tate; and two sisters:  Ruth Keeney and Ruby Henson.

Family visitation at Family Services Funeral Parlor will be Sunday, March 20, 2011, from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, March 21, 2011 at Grace Temple Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor John Curry and Brother Jess Little.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be grandsons:  Mike, Marc, Cory, Coby, Frank, and Justin and granddaughters:  De Etta, Marci, Shawn, Darcee, Leslie, and Callie.  Services are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Fernando Boccalandro and Dr. Anjaiah Kodityal for their years of compassionate care and concern for our mother. She had a great deal of love and respect for both. Also, a hearty thank you to the Staff of Rural Home Health and to Compass Hospice for all your help through these difficult days. To all of our friends, thank you for the phone calls, visits, food and other acts of kindness shown to us during this time. May God Bless you all. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Purcell’s name may be made to Grace Temple Baptist Church, 220 S. Olive, Kermit, TX, or to the charity of your choice.

Louise Kinnaird

Louise Kinnaird, age 91, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 in San Angelo, Texas. She was born July 30, 1919 in Clark County, Arkansas to Joe and Mary Elizabeth (Thompson) Carter.

Louise is now reunited with her husband of 70 years, Zola, who preceded her in death in 2006.  She was a very faithful member of Belvue Baptist Church and was a great witness for Christ. Louise was a great cook and in the eyes of her grandchildren, she was perfect. She was also a very active member at the Royal Estates in San Angelo where she resided after moving from Kermit. 

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son: Gordon Kinnaird and wife Deloros of Yale, Oklahoma; one daughter: Elizabeth Oglesby of San Angelo, Texas; four grandchildren: Charles Kinnaird and wife Carol, Natalie Meyer and husband Doug, Deanna Towell, and Trey Oglesby and wife Amber; eleven great-grandchildren: David, Alyssa, Craig, Jared, Mitchell, Matthew, Zachary, Blake, Genna, Gabrielle and Taylor and four great-great grandchildren: Anthony, Toby, Jordan and Leighanna.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Zola Fray Kinnaird; son-in-law: Gordon Oglesby; one granddaughter:  Rebecca Oglesby and her parents:  Joe and Mary Elizabeth Carter.

Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 25, 2011 at Belvue Baptist Church in Kermit with Trey Oglesby and Gordon Kinnaird officiating. Pallbearers will be Gordon Kinnaird, Trey Oglesby, Leon Mitchell, Richard Crow, Doug Meyer, and Charles Kinnaird.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit.
